Makayla doesn't have a personal style. She isn't emo, glamorous, sporty, or anything like that. She likes to dress depending on how she's feeling on a particular day. Sometimes she's a converse and nike kind of girl and others she a dress and heels kind of girl. Makayla's hair is sometimes her biggest pride and joy and sometimes her biggest pain in the butt. On her more feminine days, she likes to straighten her hair and adorn it with headbands, clips, or fun hats. On her lazy days it's usually up in a ponytail or a messy bun.

» OVERALL PERSONALITY: Makayla likes to think she's a nice girl, but she knows that isn't quite the case. While she does try to please people, she won't go out of her way to make someone happy. If she doesn't like someone, she has no problem putting them on blast in public. She isn't the type to not like someone for a reason, and she isn't quick to forgive. Makayla is quick with her words and quicker with her fists. She will fight anyone that she feels pushes her far enough. She might not always win, but she isn't one to back down.
Makayla is very confused as to who she is and what she's supposed to do with her life. She hasn't quite figured out what her group should be. In her previous schools, she hung with jocks, preps, and even a few emos. She's gone through various stages and style evolutions trying to figure out who she is. Before starting high school, she made a promise to herself that she would do her and find friends that could accept her. While she managed to somewhat keep the promise, she still is searching for a group to accept her. She stopped wasting her father's money changing her wardrobe every few months, which she considers a huge step. As for finding her purpose in life, she hopes high school will help her with that.

» HISTORY:
Makayla Renee Evans was born in San Diego, California to Carolyn and Fabian Perez. The couple had only been married ten months when their daughter was born. Makayla grew up with her mother mostly while her father was off working and putting himself through school to provide more for his family. For the first years of Makayla's life, she was almost always by her mother's side. Her father was around for most important events like her birthdays, holidays, and her first steps, but other than that he was pretty busy and absent from her life. He had to work multiple jobs with crazy hours to support three people. Makayla's mother never really worked because she was too worried about her baby girl. She didn't trust daycare centers and she had no family in the area and neither did her husband.
When it came time for Makayla to start school, it was expected of her mother to get a job. Having only a high school education, it was hard for her to find something good that she could earn good money in. One of her friends got her started with prostituting, and that would lead to her downfall as both a woman and as Makayla's rock. Pretty soon, she was hooked on drugs and fighting with Makayla's dad. The constant arguing drove Makayla crazy and she spent many of her nights crying. One day, her father decided he'd had enough and packed all of his things and his daughters and moved them out to Orlando, where he was originally from. By this time, Makayla was only six and very confused about what was going on. She only knew she wanted her mom back. When her father refused to allow her contact until she got clean, Makayla's mom promised to go to rehab if her father would just bring her baby girl back.
When Makayla's mom finished treatment, she went to visit her daughter and estranged husband. While he was at the store, she took her daughter and left the city with her. The two hid out in a small suburb about an hour out of the city. At first, Makayla was happy to have her mom back, but she began to wonder why she wasn't allowed out in daylight and why her mom always had things delivered instead of going to get them herself. About two weeks after taking off, police and CPS officers came to arrest Makayla's mom, who was high at the time, and return Makayla to her father. Once again, the young girl kicked and screamed about losing her mother, but her father assured her it was for the best. As the years passed, Makayla began to develop a relationship with her father close to the one she had with her mother, who she came to realize probably wouldn't come back.
Just as Makayla thought things in her life couldn't get better, her father told her he'd decided to marry his new girlfriend, who Makayla knew nothing of. Instantly, Makayla began to clash with the new woman in her father's life. She wasn't her mother and that was the only woman Makayla wanted her father to be with. At the wedding, Makayla had to be carried out by three groomsmen after assaulting the bride with her bouquet. After that day, Makayla vowed to make her father's new wife, who she regused to call mother or even step-mother, a living hell. This resulted in a rift between Makayla and her father forming. The absolute breaking point was probably when at Makayla's father's one year anniversary he asked her to speak. She'd already informed him she had nothing nice to say and it'd be best she didn't speak. When he handed her the microphone she simply stated, "My father married the devil, so to Hell with both of them. I want my mom back," and walked off. After that, her father never treated her the same. He still spoiled her in an attempt to get her to accept her new family, but their were no more father-daughter moments.
When Makayla was thirteen, her father informed her they'd be moving to Manhattan to be closer to his new work and his new wife's family. This made Makayla really mad. She didn't want to be the only one giving up everything and receiving nothing in return. When they did move to New York, Makayla wasted no time raising hell. She got into fights at school, got kicked out of parties, broke curfew, and everything else she knew would make her father and his wife look bad. She didn't even care if it made them upset. It upset her to have to move, but they weren't concerned about her then. She was just showing them what it felt like.

"Olivia wake up!"
Olivia heard the words but couldn't respond. She rolled over and moaned, trying to fall back into sleep but it was too late. Her mother had woken her up and she knew if she didn't get out of the bed, she wouldn't hear the end of it. She folded back her baby blue comforter and sat up. She looked out the window only to be greeted by darkness. The sun wasn't even up yet, but she knew better than to complain. She felt bad complaining to her mother anyway. After everything Gabrielle Ramos and her husband had done for Olivia, complaining just didn't seem right.
Olivia finally managed to get out of the bed and walked out of her bedroom and to the bathroom she shared with her sister and brother. She saw the light from under the door and impatiently, but silently, waited. Even though she was older, she didn't really try to boss the other children around. After all, she was adopted into their family, not the other way around. She felt like she owed everyone something, even though technicaly Gabrielle and Carlos were the only ones who did anything for her. When the door did eventually open to reveal a cranky little boy, Olivia couldn't help but smile. He wasn't her real brother, but he was close enough. He was what she had and she learned to deal with that. She playfully messed with his hair and she passed him to enter the bathroom.
Clean, dressed, and fed, Olivia happily walked out of the house with her two siblings. They followed their usual routine of putting her brother on the bus, then she and her sister began the short walk to school. They could take the bus if they wanted to, but Olivia didn't really want to. There were too many people on the bus and most of them were under the age of thirteen. Olivia already had short patience, so being cramped with a bunch or hormonal immature children was not how she wanted to start her day off.
As the girls approached the school, they parted ways. Mikayla went off to join her high fashion friends and probably share stories of shopping trips. Olivia, on the other hand, went and found a spot under a tree where practically no one else was. The tree offered a nice view of the property so Olivia could watch for her friends from there. While she waited, she pulled out an old book of songs and began looking through it. She hummed to herself, trying to picture herself performing in front of tons of screaming fans. She couldn't control the smile on her face, but she knew that was all just a dream. Besides, she liked the behind the scenes work more, the actually planning and design. She would let someone else have the spotlight as long as she could paint the beautiful scene around them.
Olivia smiled when she finally saw a fiery red head and a bush of curly hair approach her. She replaced the music book in her bag and rose to walk with her friends to their lockers where they would hang like they always did. Olivia smiled as she linked arms with her two buddies, they were all she needed.
