~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ It wasn't the first time Aaron had wondered why he had decided to take an art class. He was complete crap at almost everything art related, save for photography, but he'd already taken that. In fact, Aaron had all of the art credits he'd needed, but this last class was more of a...well, basically it was a huge "f-you" to his dad. Sure, it was nice that the class wasn't very difficult and Aaron could relax, but he still couldn't ever manage to get above an A- on any of his projects. It didn't surprise him in the least, but it was a bit frustrating in the long run. In any case, as soon as he entered the room Aaron let his mind drift off to later that evening, when he'd be able to go home. With a soft sigh, Aaron plopped himself down at his table, then lightly tapped his fingers against it as he waited for class to start.
While he was never early to this class (or any of his others, for that matter), Aaron certainly couldn't go being super late. He'd come in just a minute or so before the bell would've rung. Aaron only really knew this because about ninety percent of the class was already there. Various projects were sitting on top of the desks, so Aaron shuffled around in his backpack before tugging out his stuff and lightly dropping it on his desk. Really the only thing he hated about this class was the fact that half the people in here were so damn focused! He swore that at least half of them were silent when they worked, and most of the others refused to talk above a whisper. Aaron heard art class was supposed to be fun and sort of rowdy - not boring and quiet. That was probably his only regret about taking the class, aside from the fact that he just sucked majorly at art.
Aaron glanced around once the bell had rung, but when he noticed that everyone had gone right to working he followed suit. Apparently the teacher had nothing to say to them today, but that worked for him all the same. As he half worked and half drifted off, Aaron began to realize that he really had no clue about any of the people at his table. He glanced to the girl sitting next to him, and thought briefly about making idle chat with her, but there again he wasn't sure how she'd respond to it. Was she the type who liked silence? Or maybe she just wasn't talking because there was no one at her table she wanted to talk to. Aaron thought for a moment, chewing his lower lip out of habit. Quite frankly, there was no reason for him to not find out. Besides, if she was quiet because there was no one for her to talk to, Aaron could change that no problem. Well, if she wasn't the type of girl who just made conversations awkward, of course.
Wondering how the hell he was supposed to start a conversation, Aaron leaned back a bit in his chair and flipped his pencil back and forth a bit, before peering over at her drawing. Which, of course, was quite a lot more amazing than his own. Aaron felt his eye twitch in annoyance as he glanced at his paper. "Your drawing makes mine look like absolute crap," he said in light amusement, leaning forward again in his chair once more to rest his forearms on the table. "I'm pretty jealous. How'd you get that good?" Hopefully now all he'd have to do was talk with her, and he'd be set to have a more exciting art class now. "Oh! I'm Aaron, just by the way," Aaron added, suddenly realizing that he didn't know her name.

now it was time for sydney's favorite class of the day. even though she took art classes in her spare time she still enjoyed taking time from the school day to practice. her father thought the class was a waste of time considering she was paying for another one but she convinced him to just take it and learn anything else that she could. walking through the halls sydney found her locker and quickly turned the lock getting all the numbers in the right places. the locker opened and sydney stuck in her textbook on the top shelf. her locker was pretty much just full of work she did in her classes. there were pictures of her and her friends all over the door and inside were just art projects she had yet to take home. closing the locker sydney made her way towards her class. walking into class she was early as usual and found a table near the window to sit at. putting her stuff down she took a seat and glanced around the room. it didn't take long for the room to fill in with people and before she knew it her table was full of people. she didn't know most of the people in the class but hopefully that would change as time went on.
the class started and everyone grabbed their things and began to work. the people who weren't working seemed to be too busy day dreaming to realize that they had an assignment to do in front of them. humming in her head sydney moved her head as she started to sketch. her pencil flew across the paper drawing the picture that she had stuck in her head. she focused on the shadows wanting her picture to be as realistic as possible. she had the urge to hum out loud but she knew she'd be interrupting the people around her. sydney looked over wondering if someone was talking to her. normally in her classes everyone wanted silence when they worked which normally drove sydney crazy. she'd rather have music blasting through the room to really get creative and do whatever felt right. whenever sydney was working in her studio she always had the right type of music blasting through the room. it drove her parents crazy but they didn't want to soundproof the room so they were just going to have to deal with it until she moved out. she looked over at his work and just shook her head. you just need to try a little harder sydney told me with a little wink. people were always discouraged with their art work but the fact that were making something with their own two hands and really trying on it made it art. people just had different ideas on what looked good. years and years of classes sydney replied with a small sigh thinking back to all the work she put into her art work.
i'm sydney, it's nice to meet you she told him with a bright smile glad to have something to talk too. she had seem him around sometimes and she was pretty sure he was a year older than she was. he was lucky considering he would be graduating and getting out of here much sooner than she was. just thinking about college got sydney extremely excited. the further away from her father she got the more chances she'd get to support her dream. she was pretty sure her father wouldn't pay for her to go to an art school which was why she tried so hard to hopefully get a scholarship and pay for it all herself. running a hand through her hair she realized that the both of them were the only ones speaking and making noise. even the art teacher was doing their own thing and completely quiet. shaking her head at the silence she turned to look at her table partner. i'm glad someone in this class doesn't mind a little conversation here and there she mentioned honestly. she was glad that they ended up sitting next to each other.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Thank the lord, someone actually didn't mind striking up a conversation around here. Aaron continued to peer over at her picture, watching her hands move as she totally drew everything pretty awesomely. Aaron glanced at his own drawing and snickered a bit. "Believe me, if I tried any harder I'm pretty sure my hands would fall off," he said gravely, nodding as if it was a very solemn fact. He shot her a teasing grin. Yes, Aaron had to most definitely say that conversation was exactly what this class needed. He glanced around again, and made a slight face when he saw that everyone was still quiet. "It's so awkwardly quiet in here," he whispered to her, then looked back at his work and began to resume what he'd been doing.
"Yeah, I'm not a silent type of guy. I guess we just got stuck with the class that's always quiet?" Aaron offered, shrugging slightly. Getting stuck with that type of class wasn't exactly his ideal type of thing. Aaron always felt like if a class was silent, and you struck up a conversation, then everyone was listening in even though it was likely that they weren't. But at this point, he didn't care anymore. He needed something to do other than just scribble away at his drawing. And Sydney seemed like a nice girl, so there. It worked out wonderfully. "So are you just naturally that talented, or has it come with years of art classes?" Aaron asked after few moments, stopping the motion of his pencil to glance over at her again. He couldn't help but ask that, after all. She was like seriously super good. But there again, quite a few of the people in the class were at her level. Aaron was just crap at art, really. But hey, if it could piss his dad off and give him a nice relaxing time, Aaron saw no problems with taking the class. Besides, it wasn't hurting his GPA much or anything.
When Aaron thought of his father, he couldn't help but quiet a bit as he almost absentmindedly began to shade in a part of his picture. Quite recently, in fact, he had gotten into an argument about his father regarding which school Aaron was going to. Aaron personally wanted to go to NYU, but his father had attempted to put his foot down and said something about some prestigious school in England. Why would Aaron even want to go to England? He didn't see anything there for him anyway. Aaron would much rather just stick around in New York and just hang around the city, not end up in a creepy dorm room with like two other guys who might try to eat his soul in the middle of the night. So yeah, a creepy smart school with nerds breathing down his neck and zero party action wasn't particularly Aaron's style. At all. But in any case, Aaron had just shouted right back at his dad before storming off to his room, slamming the door shut to emphasize his point. After that, Aaron hadn't seen his father since.
Probably off at work, Aaron thought dryly. Shaking his head, he banished thoughts of his father from his mind and glanced down at his picture, only to realize that he'd been shading so long that he had totally gotten it all over the place. Aaron rolled his eyes in annoyance, then grabbed one of the erasers and began scrubbing the pencil away. "I have an excellent suggestion," Aaron said with a grin after he'd finished his erasing. He turned his head towards her. "How about we swap our drawings, and I just keep yours?" he suggested jokingly.

she paused when she heard him snickering wondering what was so funny. sydney rolled her eyes and smiled at his comment familiar with the feeling of thinking you can't draw. she always had those moments when she was trying a new piece of art. there was always something that took time for her to learn. or when she was trying to draw something and no matter how many times she did it just didn't turn out right. it was really frustrating but she couldn't stop until she got it right. which was probably why she was spending nights locked up in her studio. her parents wished she put that much effort in school but she didn't care for grades or what they were teaching. she only got the grades she had to please her father so he could continue with his dream of her going to some ivy league college and becoming a lawyer or a doctor. he didn't believe in her just making art for a living. but sydney could imagine it now just living in a flat on her own and the entire apartment part of her art. there would be paintings everywhere and materials wherever there was space to put it. the place would be a piece of art in its own. just imagining living on her own was enough to get her to keep going. it's hard to do art in silence she whispered back to him and looked around at all the eyes that were constantly glancing at them. they were the only ones speaking so people were constantly paying attention to them and the things that they were saying. not that sydney minded, whenever she made eye contact with someone she just smiled.
and i'm not the silent type of girl, hopefully it doesn't stay this quiet she told him with a small smile. she wasn't sure if the both of them would be able to survive in a class this quiet. maybe once everyone got to know each other they would be able to open up and have some conversations going. at least she hoped their table would be talkative if the rest of the class wasn't up for it. if aaron was absent the she would have nobody to speak to for the entire period, or if she was absent he'd be stuck in the same position. that couldn't turn out well for either of them. well i like to think i'm talented but the art classes definitely have helped she told him with a small shrug of her own. she didn't really think of herself as having talent she just saw herself doing something that she truly enjoyed and was willing to work at.
really? she said looking up at him with a raised eyebrow. he was making her curious and she was wondering what this excellent suggestion had to be about. he turned to look at her and then she couldn't help but grin at his suggestion which just sounded so very appealing. and what would i get out of this swap? she asked him curiously. maybe he would have another great idea where she would get something very appealing if she let him have her drawing. looking it over she wouldn't really care if he took her sketch considering she didn't really concentrate when she was working on it. but there was no way she was going to let him off so easily. she wanted to see what his drawing would turn out to be in the end. and no matter how bad he thought it was she knew it would only get better as he continued to work. seems to me like you're the only one to gain considering my drawing is just so amazing she said sarcastically. putting her pencil down she used her hand to prop her head up and look at him more closely. she really wanted to hear what he was going to come up with.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Once Aaron was able to get over the fact that half the class kept looking over and staring at them as they talked, he found that the conversation was pretty easy. They weren't really talking about anything super exciting, but there again, Aaron had just met this girl and had no clue what she was actually like once you really got to know her. It made Aaron sort of wonder what people thought when they met him. Generally he figured he was just taken as a funny and laid back guy, but he'd never actually asked anyone what their first impression had been of him. "Apparently it's not hard for them," Aaron joked lightly, figuring it would just be best to keep ignoring the other people. Some kid was giving Aaron a rather nasty look, but Aaron had always been the type of kid who would ignore the others when they did that stupid "Shh!" thing, so he wasn't going to shut up just because of a glare.
"You're not? I thought artists were all overly serious," Aaron said, a slight smirk playing on his lips. He grinned just moments later to let her know he was kidding, then took a chance to look back around the room. Yup, there were still a couple kids staring at them occasionally. Aaron still found it a little creepy, but he decided to just duck his head and make it look like he was being totally intense and working on his drawing, even though he most definitely wasn't. He'd sort of given up on it by now, because Aaron had just resigned himself to the fact that he wasn't going to get it to look right. He wasn't too bummed or anything though. Aaron turned his attention back to her as she talked, only occasionally taking the time to add random scribbles and that other stuff to his "artwork".
"What do you mean what would you get?" Aaron asked, trying to sound completely offended. "Honestly, can't you see that this is a cra - I mean - fantastic work of art. It would probably sell on the street for millions." Aaron smirked a bit. "If you traded with me, you could be making a multimillion dollar investment. What would I get? Probably an A in the class, but that definitely doesn't compare to what you'd get." Aaron sort of wondered if he sounded convincing, because he was totally putting on his best "salesman" front. Or something like that. "So what do you say? Do we have a deal?" Aaron held out his hand and grinned at her. For a few seconds, Aaron thought that just maybe he'd have been able to convince her. He was, after all, such a charismatic person. Aaron inwardly snorted almost as soon as he thought of that, but didn't let the grin waver from his features.
Aaron was sort of enjoying himself a lot now, thanks to the fact that he'd found someone who was willing to talk and just happened to be sitting right next to him. He saw, out of the corner of his eye, a few people had stopped their works to stare at him. Quite a lot of the overly serious kids had incredulous looks on their faces, but some had just snorted and ignored him. Tough crowd, Aaron thought vaguely as he waited for her reply. Maybe he'd get lucky, and be able to walk out of the class with a shiny new picture that looked better than all of his craptastic work combined. It probably wouldn't happen, but still. A guy could hope.

she couldn't help but smile at his comment and she tried hard to not giggle especially with all the eyes staring at them. if they were disturbing them then maybe they could move somewhere else and do their art work. the teacher never said they had to be quiet when they did their work the class just seemed to assume that they were supposed to be. i don't think they like us very much she whispered loudly which brought even more stares in their direction. sydney just smiled at everyone who was staring until they felt awkward enough to turn around and go back to their own work. sydney didn't really care much for what they thought she just wanted to have fun in class and if that meant annoying some people then so be it.
art is suppose to be fun, and silence is not fun at all she told him with a shake of her head. she was finding this conversation rather entertaining and she wasn't sure what she would have done if she had accidentally sat next to anyone else. sydney would probably have been humming to herself the entire time as she worked not sure what else she would have to do. she listened to him and pretended that she was taking everything he said seriously and nodded her head at the right moments. putting her hand under her chin she tried hard not to smile while he was trying to get her to trade her work for his. well i wouldn't want to take your multimillion dollar art work she said pretending to be shocked at the idea. now what kind of person would she be if she took advantage of poor little aaron? shaking her head she looked at him go and make your million dollars she told him patting his other hand instead of shaking the one that was held out to her. with a small smile on her face sydney took her pencil and drew a little smiley face at the bottom of his work. for inspiration she told him with a little wink.
so aaron, what grade are you in? she asked curiously as she did some shading on her work. sydney definitely wanted to know more about the guy sitting next to her because he was rather interesting. she looked around for a moment and she smiled as aaron noticed the people in the class staring at him. she was glad that he didn't seem to care what the other people in the class thought of him. most people didn't really take her seriously when they learned she wanted to be an artist when she grew up. the whole starving artist idea just didn't appeal to some people but that was all she wanted for the longest time and that was all she was working for. she kept her grades up so she could keep her dad off her back and the rest of her time was just spent working on what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. sure a doctor or a lawyer seemed like practical jobs but they weren't jobs she would enjoy very much. as much as she loved to be around people she didn't want to be surrounded by injured people who depended on her. and lawyers were constantly reading on cases and had someone's future in their hands. sydney just wanted people to enjoy her art as much as she did.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ She was definitely right, hands down. The other people in the room definitely didn't seem to appreciate how "obnoxious" they were being, but Aaron didn't really give a rat's ass. He was actually enjoying himself in this class for once, and it was a nice change. If they wanted to pout about how Aaron and Sydney were "disrupting the peace" or whatever the hell else they came up with, Aaron figured they could just go stuff it. Talking was one of his favorite past times, and it made classes so much more interesting. Especially classes like art, where you basically got to just hang out the entire time. Aaron had no idea why everyone else seemed to be so keen on doing their work in almost pure silence, because Aaron just found it dull. It sort of lulled him to sleep, actually, but apparently now his problem was officially remedied. "I'm sure they'll survive," Aaron joked lightly. He glanced around, not missing the few scowls sent his way.
Normally, he was a pretty well liked guy, but Aaron supposed that being well liked for him only went as far as the athletic and outgoing crowd. Most of the artistic type people and the nerds and goths or whatever they were seemed to dislike him immediately, which in turn made him dislike them. He supposed it was probably all the prejudiced experience they got from most of the other people in the "popular" crowd, but Aaron didn't really see what the big deal was. If he was going to dislike someone, it was generally going to be because of something they did rather than what social group they were in. This was sort of evident in the fact that he was talking to Sydney, because seriously, he didn't care how popular or not she was. Aaron was glad to at least have someone to talk to, and sort of hoped he could just stuff Sydney in the "friends" category in his brain.
"Silence is just boring," Aaron said with a slight shrug, making it seem like it was a very well known fact. His eyebrow rose as she declined his offer, and he put on a rather startled front. "No? Come on, I'll even throw in a free cookie to break the deal," Aaron offered, a slight smirk playing on his lips. She didn't seem to be inclined to steal his art though, and he just looked on in confusion as she drew something on his paper. When she pulled back, Aaron cocked his head to the side and looked down curiously. At the sight of the smiley face, he snickered and shook his head. "That's the best inspiration ever. I feel empowered," he joked. "How can I ever manage to repay you?"
He propped his chin up in his left hand, using his right to actually attempt to fix the crappy shading job he'd done at first on his art. "I'm a senior," Aaron explained, grinning slightly as he thought of the prospect. Just another school year to get by, and he was college bound and out of his house and his father's hair. Once he had more freedom, Aaron figured that maybe he could just ignore his father and his crazy demands for Aaron to be the best at everything. "It'll be so damn great to get out of the house," he muttered, wrinkling his nose slightly as he thought of it. A couple seconds later, Aaron looked over at Sydney curiously. "What about you?" he questioned. Aaron had a feeling that, throughout this class, he'd probably get a nice chance to get to know his seat buddy, so starting out with basics was good. Besides, he'd need something to do instead of just sit in silence and work on their crazy amount of projects all the time.

sydney's hand continued to work on her sketch wondering what they were going to work on as soon as this was over. sydney wanted to hurry and get into the painting section because she loved to paint. she could spend hours in her room just painting whatever it was she was in the mood to paint. most of sydney's jeans had some type of paint all over them because she couldn't keep everything on the canvas. even if she had some type of smock on it always seemed to somehow get on her clothing. whenever she was done painting she would always come out with hands, face, and clothing covered in whatever colors she was using. but she was use to having paint on her so she never minded. let's hope they do sydney said with a small smile as she continued shading. she could feel people all around the room staring at them but she didn't mind one bit. as long as she and aaron were enjoying their conversation she would continue.
i just couldn't do that to you sydney said putting a hand on her chest as if the idea alone was overpowering for her. it was hard to resist from smiling but she was glad that he liked the little present she left on his paper. well i really wouldn't mind that cookie she told him honestly with a wink. how could anyone resist a cookie? she had provided him with such amazing inspiration that the cookie was the least he could give her. if he wanted she could draw smileys all over his paper if they helped him at all. she was glad to see him at least attempt to actually work on his work as he fixed some of his shading.
once he said he was a senior sydney was instantly jealous of him. even though it was the beginning of the year he was still so close to graduating and going off to whatever he wanted. he had the decision to go off to college or maybe move out and live on his own. he could do whatever he wanted because he was finally free of the restrictions of high school. this time next year sydney would be sitting in class while aaron was off doing god knows what. if only she had been born just a year earlier then she would be a step closer to one of her dreams. just a little junior sydney told him with a sigh. she had yet another year to go after this one until she was able to graduate. sydney squinted her eyes at aaron for a moment wishing they could trade ages. what she would do if she was able to be eighteen and ready to graduate.
what do you plan on doing after you graduate? she asked him curiously. so far all she knew was that he was going to leave the house which was one of the first things sydney had in mind when she thought of graduation. she hoped to get into art school and then all she'd have to worry about was how she was going to pay for tuition. father could easily help her pay it off but he would refuse to pay for an art school. if she went to the same school as her brother he'd probably love to pay for that. it would take some time for him to ease into the idea but he was going to have too because sydney already decided what she wanted to do with her future.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Aaron let himself be distracted for a little bit by watching Sydney draw. His eyes took in how her hand flitted over the paper, making the perfect marks almost everywhere necessary, leaving few flaws in the piece. Aaron glanced back at his own again, and his lips twisted up into an amused sort of smirk. Yeah, his own picture definitely paled in comparison to hers, but oh well. Aaron wasn't taking this class because he was good at art or anything like that. He knew he wasn't good, and had resigned himself to the fact, so generally he just let himself use art as a way to just space out and relax a little. It was definitely better than Calculus, that was for sure. He hated that class, and figured it hated him right back. No matter what, that was probably the one class he just couldn't win in. He tried his best, but it just wasn't working out. Plus, Aaron was pretty sure the teacher was out to get him too. "Well, if they couldn't manage to survive our talking, would that honestly be so horrible?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow. A joking grin spread across his face as he chuckled quietly, then turned his attention back to his work.
Aaron reached out and put his hand on her shoulder, looking at her in an overly serious way as if it was one of those super dramatic moments in a TV show. "No, I think you can do that to me. I really would love to have your art, and you can become the millionaire of this operation," he said, then grinned easily and moved his hand back to rest on top of the table. "I might be able to get you your cookie," he began casually, then looked over at her, "but we'll have to negotiate the price of my cookie. I don't do things for free. I mean, your inspiration was great and all...but still." He wasn't really insinuating anything, but Aaron figured that she could take his statement however she liked. Maybe she'll bargain with me and they could reach a deal for the cookie, he thought in amusement.
Aaron didn't miss the slight jealousy that had popped into Sydney's eyes when he mentioned being a senior. He didn't really blame her though, because he remembered how much he burned to be a senior last year, especially under the stress of the harder classes his dad had made him take. Aaron felt a stab of pity for her, but he pushed it aside, figuring that pity wouldn't do any good. He wasn't sure why she seemed to want to get out of here so bad, but Aaron could see that she did in her eyes. "So spill, why do you want out?" he questioned lightly, resuming the shading of his...whatever it was he was attempting to draw. Honestly, Aaron just didn't know anymore, and he sort of didn't care. "I mean sure, everyone wants to be done with high school, but for some reason, you seem to want to get out more than others." He didn't know her though, so of course his hunch might've been wrong, but taking a stab in the dark was never a bad idea. Aaron rather liked delving into the unknown, because there were always fun opportunities that could present themselves.
He thought about her question for a bit, then sighed finally. Honestly, he was still a bit unsure about what he was going to do. "I'm going to major in business, I think," Aaron explained. He actually did like business quite a bit, though he hated the fact that his father had chosen it for him and Aaron had actually liked it. He wished he would've come up with something on his own that he liked, but whatever. "No idea what I'll minor in. Definitely not anything science related, I hate sciences. Except for psychology, but some people count that as a social study so whatever." He shrugged a bit. "I expect I'll go to NYU too, but I sort of like it here. Just as long as I'm out of my house, I'm good." He was quiet for a bit, a slight smile playing on his lips. "I'd like to travel and see the world someday too, so I plan to do that, but it'll probably come a bit later."
Aaron chewed his lip for a moment, then finally figured he'd just tell her. Honestly, it wasn't like she was going to go tell his dad what he really wanted to minor in, so that was all fine and dandy. "I've actually toyed with the idea of minoring in musical theory or something like that, but I'm pretty sure if I did my dad would cut my head off and serve it on a silver platter," Aaron explained. He was grinning, and had made the statement into a joke, but he knew that it probably wasn't very far from the truth. Though his dad would never physically hurt him or something like that, Aaron knew he had no qualms about doing his best to control Aaron's life as much as possible.

i guess not she commented as she watched his eyebrow raise. sydney ended up chuckling along with him as a few people looked up at them once more. they were having fun and that was all that mattered at the moment. as long as their work was finished on time the teacher really couldn't say anything to them because they were still doing what they were told. he caught her by surprise as he put her hand on her shoulder and looked at her in such a way. sydney tried hard not to smile and take this moment seriously but it was rather hard. bitting her lip she waited until he was finished talking until she smiled. or you can become the millionaire then buy this off me for everything you've got she told him with a small smile. not that she'd actually let anyone buy her art for that much money. sydney didn't think she was good enough that someone could spend so much money on some simple assignment that she did for her art class. though in aaron's case she could always make an exception so that she could make some money to help pay for college. well let's start these negotiations she told him as she rested her head on her hand and looked at him. what was she going to have to do in order to get a cookie from aaron? whatever happened in these negotiations was definitely going to interesting. she couldn't wait until he named his price.
sydney considered giving him the classic just ready to move out of the house excuse or maybe let him in a little more. people did say it was easier to talk to a stranger and she barely knew aaron so maybe she would give it a chance. and he already seemed to know that she had a big reason for wanting to finish high school. he probably wouldn't fall for one of those lame excuses. i really can't wait to get out she admitted to him with a shrug. high school wasn't so bad but living at home was much harder than it needed to be. if she was living on her own she probably wouldn't mind coming to school every day. though her grades would probably drop dramatically because she had no interest in the academic part in school. she just liked coming to her art class and hanging out with her friends after she was done. unfortunately that wasn't the case and that was never going to be the case unless her dad randomly changed his ways which probably would never happen. my dad's rather hard to be around she told him as simply as she could. she wasn't sure if they were close enough that she was ready to tell him that her dad was an overbearing guy who wanted her to be perfect in everything she did. sure most parents pressured their children but he took everything to another level which made her feel like she was suffocating sometimes. she had no idea how her brother survived but it was probably because he was much smarter and motivated to do well in school than she was. but at least now he was free and in college and he could do whatever he wanted.
she listened silently as he talked about majoring in business. sydney could see him as a salesman who somehow got you to spend much more money than you planned on. he would do well in the business career as long as he kept that oh so charming personality of his. but then again he did offer to give her his million dollar investment so maybe he wasn't as good as she thought? i think traveling would be absolutely amazing sydney confessed just thinking about all the places she wanted to see. traveling the world and painting all the beautiful things she saw would be a dream come true. she did a little traveling with her parents but it was mostly for educational purposes so she never really enjoyed where they were going. she was suprised to hear that he thought about minoring in musical theory. i think if you really want to you should sydney told him with a nod of her head. your dad can only be in control for so long she replied with a wink. his description of his dad reminded her of her own. he had yet to know that she was planning on applying to art school and she was already trying for scholarships to help her pay for her tuition. her dad assumed that because she had no money she was going to have to go to whatever school he decided to pay for. but he had underestimated her determination and his sister was a big help in all her plans.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Well, this was definitely much better than sitting in silence. At her suggestion, Aaron snorted. "Nah, I don't think it works that way, you see. Once I become a millionaire, I stay a millionaire," Aaron stated as a wide grin appeared on his face. There was no way he'd throw all his money away if he ever became a millionaire. Especially not for a drawing, that would just be insane. Aaron thought the drawing was great and all, but really, if he became a millionaire he'd probably spend his money on things like private jets. Now that sounded like something he would like. A private jet with maybe his own personal pilot and whatever else he needed. That would be the life. Aaron snapped out of his daydreaming long enough to hear her mention the negotiations, which made his grin spread further. If anything, Aaron knew how to negotiate. Or at least, generally he did. Sometimes he had issues, but it just depended on the person. "How bad do you want that cookie? Because I think a full cookie can cost you anywhere between a free drink of my choosing at Starbucks, all the way to a brand new car," Aaron said seriously, though there was still a grin on his face. Alright, so maybe the car was pushing it, but hey, he could dream, couldn't he? It wasn't really as if he needed a new car, when he thought about it, but oh well. "If you got me a car, I'd even throw in an extra cookie," he said with a wink. By this time, Aaron was pretty sure he'd forgotten all about working on his project, and had tucked it away safely in the back of his mind. Maybe he'd finish working on it at home. Or maybe he'd just not finish, which was probably more likely than the other option. He began to fiddle with the pencil in his hand out of something of a habit, and really Aaron didn't realize he was actually doing it.
He watched her carefully as she admitted she wanted out - it wasn't really a surprise to him. He could see it written all over her face. Aaron couldn't blame her though, because getting out of the house was something he was looking forward to as well. High school was also sort of crappy sometimes, though so far his senior year had rocked. When she mentioned her dad, Aaron had to resist the urge to laugh. The irony was definitely not lost on him. They both had overbearing dads and wanted out, and somehow they'd ended up sitting next to each other in art class. "Seems like your dad and my dad are in the same boat, from what you say," Aaron muttered out loud. He wasn't sure if she'd want to go too far into the whole "dad territory" but if she did, he didn't mind. Aaron wasn't really uptight about that stuff, though he did hate it when people pried without his acceptance.
"My dad says traveling is a waste of money," Aaron said in a rather amused tone, "I told him his new three hundred dollar wallet was a waste of money." Talking to Sydney was definitely making Aaron's day look up. She amused him, and he liked joking around with her. Sometimes people just didn't know how to take jokes, but whatever. She did, and thankfully enough he'd managed to wind up sitting next to her and not one of those other uppity kids. "Daddy dearest has issues when he isn't in control," Aaron explained in a rather mocking tone. He shot her a wide grin and then glanced back at his paper, then began to absently fix parts of it. He wondered if her dad was like his - maybe so?

well i think it works out much better that way she told him with a nod. then she could use all the money to pay for college and to get her own place. having that much money would just make her life so much more convenient. but it's okay, i'll let you live in my basement she told him with a small smile. if sydney had a huge house the least she could do was let him live there. then again sydney was never a fan of big houses. she never understood why people had such large space when they didn't even seem to need it. she wanted a reasonable sized house to live in no matter how much money she had to spend. running a hand through her hair she continued her sketching not really as into it was she was earlier. she was having much more fun with this conversation than doing some sketch for class.
you see, for that much i could just buy as many cookies as i want she told him with a small shrug. as if sydney would have enough money to buy anyone a car let alone herself. she was trying to save up for school having a car was far from her list of things. her dad offered to buy her a car if he went to the same college as he did but that wasn't going to happen. it would probably be nice if she just followed his plan and then she wouldn't have to worry about college or a car. most people thought she was stupid to go into an unreliable job but sydney already went through all those thoughts and she was happy with her decision. i'm thinking maybe i'll draw you another smiley face for that cookie. i normally charge a price for those anyways sydney suggested with another wink. she thought that was a fair trade for a cookie. for that smiley face she was thinking she should get at least two cookies were in order. she was giving him a break here just asking for cookies. inspiration wasn't cheap and he should be lucky she was doing such a nice thing for him.
nice to know i'm not the only one with that type of dad sydney told him with an attempt of a smile. she wasn't sure if he had meant to say that but sydney was glad he did. this wasn't the type of conversation that sydney was expecting to happen during today's class. actually she wasn't expecting much of an interesting conversation in general because of the people in this class. lucky her to get to sit next to some guy who she seemed to have so much in common with. traveling isn't a waste of money, what better thing could you use money for! she told him trying to defend his plan. if he wanted to go traveling than that's what he should do. sydney wished she had enough to take a year off and go traveling. if he had the chance to do it sydney would be behind him a hundred perfect. i completely understand, my dad's the same way sydney told him as he grinned at her. even though he made it seem as though it wasn't an issue sydney understood how hard it was to deal with fathers sometimes. they thought they knew what was best for their children when in fact they didn't really know what their child wanted for themselves. at least now sydney could have someone to talk to who would understand what it was like for her.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Aaron was just enjoying this more and more, especially with the fact that it was letting him vent a bit about his psycho daddy. Sure, deep down Aaron probably loved his dad, but most of the time it was the furthest thing from his brain. Most of the time thoughts of his dad revolved around their latest screaming match, and whether or not Aaron was going to be able to go where he wanted to when he got older. Aaron's dad never went so far to take his "privileges" away though, because his mom always interfered before it got to that point, and then Aaron would leave the house and go to a party and not come back until some ungodly hour in the morning. Most of the time he did that he came home drunk or half asleep or with some girl who would stay in his bed for the night, then he'd kick her out before their Nanny noticed. Yup, that was pretty much his life in a nutshell.
"I'm only going to live there if it's awesome and comes with a tight huge TV and whatever the hell else I want," he said. He was sort of kidding. If she ever did have an awesomely huge house with a basement and offered him to move in, he probably would - so long as she provided everything he wanted. Yup, Aaron was such a lazy ass mooch, but oh well. He'd just sort of grown up that way, what with being an only child and his mommy spoiling him (when she was around) and all that. Most of the time his spoiled side didn't show though, because he was goofy enough to keep it at bay. Sometimes he got a bit annoyed when things didn't go his way, and when he would want something he couldn't have, but other than that, a lot of people didn't seem to think him spoiled, thankfully. Aaron actually hated spoiled people, despite the fact that he sort of technically was one.
"Well...if you normally charge for them anyway, then I guess it's only fair," Aaron said, making his voice sound like he was relenting over something much more important than a cookie. "But you have to promise to make it an epic smiley face, or I'll feel cheated, I hope you know," he said. Aaron looked at the first smiley face she'd drawn on his paper, and had to resist the urge to laugh. All of their bantering over a smiley face. It was sort of an odd thing to think about, but it was pretty much true. Aaron sort of liked the little happy face a bit more now. Hell, maybe he'd hang the thing on his fridge when he got home. He nearly snorted at that, but managed not to and instead focused back in on her.
"I bet a lot of people have that kind of dad," Aaron muttered, his head dipping a bit as he looked over his drawing, "they probably just hide it." He always wondered what happened behind closed doors. How many people wore fake smiles every day, and how many people just hated going home because it was worse for them there than it was at school. "That's exactly what I think. My dad's always been anti-leaving-the-country though," Aaron explained with a slight shrug of his shoulders. Aaron wasn't quite sure why his dad was like that, but all he knew was that Mr. Shields was, and he definitely didn't like Aaron talking about his future plans to go out and see the world. "Maybe we should just run away to some island together and tell our dads to stuff it," Aaron joked, lifting his head again to look at her. He wondered how bad it was for her when she went home.
