*step into the spotlight,
» FULL NAME: Zakhery Aiden West
» NICKNAMES: Usually it’s Zak, occasionally he gets referred to by his middle name, sometimes Aid, often West or Westie; especially by people he doesn’t know/like.
» AGE/BIRTHDAY: Seventeen. March 12th.
» GENDER: Male
» ORIENTATION: Bisexual
» CANON OR ORIGINAL: Original
» GROUP/GRADE: Junior
*let them see who you are,
» HAIR: Zak has black hair. Originally it was dark brown, but as he grew older, and consequently more experimental, he began to dye it. His hair has been through many transitions, from having red streaks, to being entirely red, to being purple, blue, and even white at one point. As for now he’s settled on black, but his changes are frequent and random. Zak gets bored having the same style and colour after so long.
» EYES: His eyes are perhaps his only redeeming feature, or so he would say. They are blue and stand out nicely in pictures (that he’s edited himself, of course!) He likes the way his eyes look against his guyliner and pale skin, they kind of stand out.
» HEIGHT/WEIGHT: Zak is tall, at about 6’2, and very slender. He’s struggled with his weight for the last few years.
» DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: He usually wears make up, which is somewhat distinguishable, especially at a school full of so many rich preppy kids. Despite being already pale, he often uses a very pale foundation, at least for special occasions. For not so special occasions Zak’s eyes are often surrounded by a design of blackness, which sometimes conveys itself to his lips. He also has many piercings and a growing collection of tattoos; only some of them aren’t permanent, and the ones that are are hidden; his parents don’t want him to have any and he’s not that brave to show them yet.
» STYLE: Zak’s style is pretty obvious when you look at him. Well, at least it can barely be said to be ‘normal’. He generally goes for skinny jeans, skinny tees (mostly bands) and leather jackets, or alternatively hoodies because they’re generally pretty comfortable. As for his footwear, he alternates between converse (he has many colours) and his newly acquired biker boots, which obviously aren’t as comfortable but definitely are more presentable for nights on the town.
» OVERALL: Zak dislikes normality because normality usually dislikes Zak. He’s always been interested in the darker side of life, and he likes to reflect this in his appearance. He’s very conscious of his appearance, probably more than most people think; particularly his weight. Zak has never been overweight but there was a time when he had a bit of a belly as a child, puppy fat one might say. His style and general demeanour already made him the target of bullies, so he went quite far in his methods of losing weight, so far as to develop bulimia; the fact that he ate a lot would please his parents and they never had to know that he didn’t keep it down. To this day, he’s tall and slender (perhaps too skinny when the clothing is removed), pale skin accompanied by heavy black make up, black hair, piercings and an assortment of tattoos.
*shine through the darkness,
» LIKES:
- Horror films; he grew up on them. His elder brother kind of forced him to watch a lot of them, and although at the time they were terrorising, he kind of grew adjusted and lovingly towards them.
- His Ouija board. Zak believes he has a spirit guide and he uses the board on a frequent basis; obviously his parents don’t know or they wouldn’t allow it. In fact nobody knows, this is something he fails to mention when he meets new people.
- Girls and boys. Zak is bisexual, and this is quite a publically known fact. He often gets drunk and when he’s drunk he’ll make out with whoever, even when he’s sober. He has a bit of a reputation of being a manwhore, but the truth is Zak is a virgin. He’s a bit insecure with his body to go that far, nonetheless he still likes to pull and make out with people.
- Music. Zak is a drummer and uses music as a release from his feelings. Whenever he’s feeling angry or upset he’ll go in his garage and drum away. He also likes to attend a lot of gigs when possible.
- Make up. When he has his make up on it’s like a mask, he can be a little bit different and do things he normally wouldn’t do because he has another face on. Often he feels more comfortable at school with make up on even though his classmates like to bully him for it.
» DISLIKES:
- His big Brother, Ewan. Despite Ewan probably influencing his little brother’s lifestyle, the two brothers don’t get along. Ewan is a college jock, and pretty much the perfect son. He’s a pre-med student and therefore has everything planned. Zak on the other hand doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, or where he’s going, so he often feels inferior to his big brother, and thus hates him.
- His parents. They’re far too preppy for Zak’s taste. They don’t allow him to have tattoos; they’ve made a compromise so he can have temporary ones, which is just lame and a hassle but Zak complies, at least in the places they can see. They don’t like his dress style and so refuse to buy him clothes or pay for his hair, despite the fact that they buy his brother everything, so he has to get a job. They don’t like his style in music, they don’t like the language he uses, they don’t like anything about him. Well, that’s a lie, they do love his uniqueness and they love him but Zak often believes that they hate him and so he doesn’t have a very strong bond with them.
- Preppy jock people, aka the kids at his school. Everyone’s so rich and preppy and stuck up and he doesn’t like those kids. They just don’t get him and he doesn’t get them either. He doesn’t understand how they can be so narrow minded and just boring. He has a few close friends but usually it’s not those kids.
- Chewing gum. He thinks it’s vile, and he’s had enough of it stuck to his hair that he definitely know when to avoid it.
- His body. He tries to strive for perfection but generally he just feels ugly, so he tries to cover it up with tattoos, make up and cool hair. It doesn’t always make him feel better, but he makes an effort, at least in an unconventional way.
» STRENGTHS:
- Zak has a strong sense of self. He knows who he is and he doesn’t intend to change for anybody, perhaps to the point of stubbornness.
- Independent. Zak doesn’t often open up with people about how he really feels, in fact he usually keeps it all to himself and deals with things by himself. In doing this, he’s became very independent and doesn’t rely upon others to help him with a problem.
- Fun. Because Zak so often gets drunk, or goes to parties, he can be perceived as a bit of a party boy who likes to have fun. Drunken dancing is one of his favourite past times, alongside playing on his drums and being a general goof when around his friends.
- Talents. Zak is a talented young man. He’s talented at acting because he pretends everything’s okay. He’s kept up a front to his parents for many years that nothing is actually wrong, that his weak body is merely natural as opposed to an affect from his disorder. He’s also a talented drummer and writer, although he doesn’t write that often, except to review a gig for the school newspaper.
- Caring. When Zak lets someone in, however infrequent that is, he becomes very caring of that person and will be a good friend, or boyfriend, whatever the case. He isn’t so selfish that he’ll put himself first, but rather others will be his prime interest.
» WEAKNESSES:
- Stubborn. When Zak has an opinion, he sticks to it. Generally these opinions stray from his music to his fashion to his mood and current affairs, and thus he can also be quite offended when people try to second guess him.
- Defensive, in the same way that he’s stubborn. He gets far too easily offended and becomes very defensive, in a way that he’ll argue his point and not really listen to the other persons.
- He often gets emotional when things don’t go his way, or when he feels that people aren’t treating him right. Zak is a bit insecure, and he’ll keep everything to himself until he gets to his room, or until he gets drunk, and then he tends to go a bit wild. He has so much pent up emotion that he tends to act…
- Reckless. Zak likes to go out and party a lot, he likes to make out with random people, and get into fights and do whatever really. The truth is that when he acts recklessly, he feels alive, he feels real. The numbness of having a hard time at school doesn’t really matter. He doesn’t dislike his appearance so much, and he feels he can be himself.
- Insecure. Zak has always felt insecure about how he looks, and how people perceive him. He tries to be strong and not give in to peer pressure, but inside he isn’t entirely happy, and he wishes he were more accepted.
» SECRETS:
- Eating Disorder
- He wishes he could be like his older brother
- He’s afraid of commitment
» GOALS:
- To be comfortable in his own skin
- To be recognised
- To be remembered
» OVERALL PERSONALITY:
- Sarcastic
Zak has a dry, sarcastic sense of humour, most of the time. But he can also be quite goofy. Because he’s so dry, people often take what he says as serious which isn’t always the case, although sometimes it is. Some people say that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but Zak believes it’s the highest and he never fails to make a point of it if someone is in contestation of it; the fact that everyone takes it to be personal just means that he’s smarter than them all, or so Zak likes to say.- Wild
Zak enjoys the wilder things in life; it’s how he deals with things. When he’s feeling stressed, upset or angry with himself, he’ll get drunk and generally act out of control. There are several things that Zak will do when he’s in this state; he’ll dance. Yes, dancing is not wild, nor is it reckless or ‘out of control’, neither is dancing with others but dancing is something that Zak likes to do when he’s drunk, whether it be moshing or otherwise. The second thing he will do is make out with people, girls, boys, anybody. He isn’t exactly picky when it comes to who he makes out with, but usually he doesn’t commit and if a person tries to get close to him, he generally runs away. Third, Zak occasionally gets violent. This isn’t good for him, especially when he’s drunk because he’s not that good of a fighter.- Dark
Zak has a strong interest in the paranormal and demonology and the like. This is somewhat obvious through his appearance, the movies he watched and music he listens to, however as to the full extent of it, he keeps it quiet. He doesn’t let anybody know about his Ouija board, or the fact that he visits graveyards just to ‘relax’. Well relaxing is somewhat difficult, because they kind of scare him, but he has an interest in death, and what happens afterwards. Then again it’s not all gloom. Zak likes dressing up because he thinks it looks cool, he isn’t exactly miserable, he’s often content and happy exploring the other worlds. It’s just him, it’s his interest, just as comic books and reading are.- Passionate
When Zak’s into something he becomes really passionate about it, whether it’s music, playing his drums, losing weight or people. He just gets really into it and devotes his time to his interest, kind of like OCD. It doesn’t really concern him as his phases are often brief and when he’s interested, he usually gets something good out of it. His life can generally be defined by interchangeable phases, and they often define his memories. He’s a very passionate drummer and he’s passionate about his style. He’s also passionate about not knowing what he wants to do with his life, and about being a mess.- Defensive
When someone opposes Zak he quickly becomes defensive. He gets worked up quite easily, especially if those that oppose him are preps. It’s not strange for Zak to get into an argument, or consequently a fight, which he usually loses, with those at school. He’s came home with enough black eyes, not due to eyeliner, in the past. It’s all a part of his lifestyle really. If he didn’t get bullied, he’d have nothing to complain about and he likes to complain that his life sucks, and he likes to be miserable and thrash it out on the drums, because when he’s happy he’s really happy and a life without drama is no life at all.- Ambitious
Zak wants to make something of his life, only he doesn’t know what yet. Of course he wants to be a drummer in a band, but it’s a bit unrealistic and he knows that his parents wouldn’t support him. Naturally he has made bands in the past but most of them have developed into a few local gigs and then an argument between the bands. Other than that, he wants to be comfortable in his own skin and have the confidence to face the kids at school and not feel afraid of their judgements.- Reflective and Smart
Zak is a good thinker, and he thinks a lot. He’s a deep thinker too, he probably thinks about things too much and overanalyses things. He’s also pretty smart but his impulsive and reckless behaviour usually doesn’t take these things into consideration. If Zak were patient enough he would write a book on his life, and he’d be very sure that it would sell well.
*dive into your past,
» PARENTS: Zak’s parents like to think of themselves as being ‘well adjusted’. They’re middle class, they like to trim their lawns and pretend to be the perfect couple. They are the perfect couple. They barely argue, they always see eye to eye. Zak hates them. He doesn’t fit in with his parents. They’re too perfect for him and he believes he can never be good enough for them. They try and influence his behaviour in a way which seems appropriate to them, as opposed to simply accepting him. There’s always that constant pressure to be who they want him to be. Zak’s mother is called Anna West, she’s a psychiatrist, and her husband is named Jacob West; he is a Doctor.
» SIBLINGS: Zak has one elder brother called Ewan. Zak likes to see him as ‘the perfect son’ where as himself is more like the Devil or something. He and his brother generally don’t get on.
» PETS: He has a black cat called Salem; he named him after the cat on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, when he was 12.
» SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Zak doesn’t really like to commit to people, he’s afraid of getting hurt.
» OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE: His friends are important to him.
» HISTORY:
Prior to Zak’s birth, there was a family of three, situated in California. The young couple had a four year old son and had only recently married; obviously this was wrong; they had had a child out of wedlock. Although they weren’t very religious, they were a very moral couple; a belief in God and they would have been perfect for priests. With this, the couple cared a lot about appearances; this is why the birth of their first child bothered them so much, despite the fact that he was their ultimate soldier. They made the best effort to look presentable, in their home and physical appearance. They liked to come across as the perfect couple, the perfect family, and so they needed a complete set.
Nine months after this decision was made Zakhery came into the world. The woman had always wanted a son called Zak, but she didn’t like the spelling with a ‘c’ so she had to come up with a unique way to spell it; this is something which she considers as the mistake of her life, it was a rash decision, a decision to have her son’s name spelt differently and thus it turned him into what he became. He was a healthy baby, weighing an average amount for a baby to weigh, and have a mock of black hair. It was cute, at the time. He was cute, at the time.
Even as a child Zak was somewhat normal. Granted, he always seemed a bit quiet, and a bit reserved, but he had a close relationship with his brother. He did a lot with Ewan; they would watch films, usually horrors and Zak would become strangely fascinated with that type of world, mostly the paranormal. He enjoyed getting frightened, and scaring others, so much so that he would occasionally be violent. It wasn’t really something to be concerned with; it was just a kid’s thing. He liked the power, but he got over it as he grew up, as he aged, as he developed morals. He just became a normal kid who liked to read Goosebumps and watch music videos, and even play drums when his parents deemed him old enough; say around nine, to learn. At first, when he had pleaded to play guitar, they had put up a fight; they didn’t want their son getting involved with drugs, sex and rock and roll. However they made a compromise on drums, only because there was a place open for him in the school band, and if they were really lucky he’d get to go to band camp, and it would be nothing like on American Pie. Of course his parents were insanely wrong. Zak began to become obsessed with the instrument and instead of going to his family, like he used to, if he was upset, he would turn on the instrument. It became something for the young man to pent all of his emotions on; it became a rare sight to see him without a drum stick on his person.
This was about the age when things started to get harder, when he began to notice that his fascination with the darker things in life, along with comic books, weren’t really a cool thing, weren’t normal, and no other kids liked the music he was into… He started to get bullied. At the same time he started to find himself too. With the influence of music and horror films, Zak began to gain his unique sense of style and dress sense. He was tired of looking like the perfect son that his parents wanted him to be, that he wasn’t. So he asked for some money, telling his parents he was going for a haircut, and he dyed his hair black and got it styled to a way which suited him, the real him. He then went out and blew the rest of the money his parents gave him on skinny jeans, a leather jacket and band tees. Naturally they were shocked and appalled when they found out. But there was no turning back.
But the bullying got worse. He thought that if he had a physical identity it wouldn’t matter anymore, that he’d find friends who were like him, who liked the same things but none of it happened. Zak was more of a loner than ever, outcasted not only by his personality but now by his appearance. And at age 13, developing puppy fat, he just didn’t fit in. People started to call him fat when he got changed for gym class, they referred to him as ‘the fat emo’. He got more and more tired of hearing about his imperfections that he had to change it. When he ate, he would picture the food turning into fat around his muscles, which would turn into insults and physical abuse from the other kids. He was always hungry but he could no longer eat in front of others, and then his hunger would affect him so he’d eat a lot, but the images just wouldn’t leave him. At first he lived with his shame, but as the weeks progressed and the bullying got worse, the young teenager would start to vomit up the food he ate. He rapidly grew tired, losing weight, and his throat began to hurt from vomiting. As time passed this obsession of his went through stages of strength and weakness. Sometimes he could be distracted from his drums. Later he would turn to his wild behaviour for a release and feeling of wellbeing. But all the time his relationship with his family began to determinate and he began to rely more and more on his friends, music and movies as a creative outlet.
When Zak turned seventeen, his mother caught him vomiting. She accused him of doing it to himself and had a rant about what he did to himself, how he dressed so dark and tried to embarrass the family. It was the last straw. She insisted on moving to Manhattan, and enrolling Zak in a new school; a school where he stood out more than ever, a school full of perfect people.

» RP SAMPLE:What had originally been a walk home from band practise had developed into a walk towards the Devil, only a Devil who dressed brighter, and who probably wasn’t as smart. Byron had always imagined the Devil to be more deceptive than the blunt man he had encountered on the streets, from the blunt man who had touched him. He shuddered darkly. He was into some crazy things, but being touched without his permission just wasn’t cool. His body was his own and it had taken him a while to accept it as it was. He didn’t welcome that invasion of space. Byron could often be thought of as the more private of he and his twin, but still he was starting to come out of his shell now.
Today the black haired gent was on his way to see his cousins; they would undoubtedly be in their shop, a shop which Byron spent a lot of time around. He was kind of attracted to the Wiccan shop, it harboured a lot of materials he liked to use when he practised witchcraft, and just the general set up of it appealed to his more darker imagination. He had a weird, weird family, but it was kind of cool. Byron seemed to believe that he worked at the shop, well sort of, because he was there that often. The truth was that he was a student, passing his time in pointless art lectures that would really get him nowhere in life; it wasn’t meant to. It was just merely to pass the time, to meet people, to fall into some unknown opportunity which had never actually occurred, yet.
He turned the corner, and raised a heavy brow at the sight of such a exquisite car, unnecessary? Probably. Byron didn’t even own a car, he usually just biked it everywhere. He couldn’t really afford a car. He could barely ask his parents for the money for a car, especially not a car as psycho as that. After all his parents were ghost hunters, and although they kind of made money from their music, they weren’t exactly Fall Out Boy or anything. Anyway, even if could afford a car, he was pretty sure he’d go for a bike instead. He preferred them.
Passing the car, Byron entered the shop, the small bell drawing his attention like a firefly attracted to the flames. However he couldn’t focus too long on the cosmetics of the place before his cousin spoke up, Anna. She’d never liked him and he wasn’t exactly sure why. Well, he kind of knew. It seemed to be since she found out he was a witch, but she worked in a wiccan shop, surely she couldn’t hate him for that. They weren’t living Salem after all. ”Hey,” he said softly, ignoring her blunt question but making his way to the cash counter, slipping on it and making himself comfortable. He smiled politely at Thane, because they were cousins and that’s what you did when you didn’t ordinarily smile as much as others did. Byron then frowned, he had a lot to tell his cousins. ”The people here are so strange. They can barely afford to wash, yet they have fucking audi’s and shit.” he mused, with an overcompensated roll of his eyes. Usually it was Rainer who was the more dramatic, but Byron still inherited some of the family gene in drama. ”Oh hey, I got assaulted the other day.” he added. The thing with his Byron was that his voice usually didn’t reflect how he felt about things. For example, he really wasn’t happy that he’d been assaulted, in fact he was kind of scared, and he felt some abused and vulnerable, but the way he spoke of it was in the same light he’d speak of the weather. He fidgeted slowly, his fingertips playing with the black and white hobo gloves on each hand. ”Sexually,” Byron coughed, his eyesight suddenly been caught by a new book that was in store. Or at least that’s what he wanted them to think. Why he was telling them? He didn’t really know, it was more to Thane anyway. He supposed Thane kind of took Rainer’s place, the new brother, the new best friend. That would definitely have been something he’d tell Rainer, and Rainer would definitely think of some awful way to get revenge, and then do it. He doubted Thane was like this, but it was easy to miss and hate his twin brother at the same time.

ergh, it's a pretty awful application. Sorry, hopefully it's good enough though.
