Seb lifted the plastic water bottle to his lips and gulped excessively. Once he’d finished drinking he sighed and wiped the droplets of sweat from his brow with his arm. He leant forward, resting his hands on his thighs, while he caught his breath. He was surprisingly fit, despite his flushed complexion and the dulling pain in his right leg. He enjoyed the cool breeze against his skin as he ran. It was something he done every night before he went to work. The adrenaline he formed from the run sort of psyched him up for the drunken punters, and crazy staff.
He knew he was lucky to own a bar, but as he ran, he often imagined what his life would have been like if he’d not had the motorbike accident, and had managed to make it into the world of professional football. He was sure he’d have some hot blonde on his arm, and this time he’d double check she wasn’t a lesbian before things got too serious. He ran his hand through his hair as he walked off the pain in his leg. He couldn’t believe how many years later it ached.
Seb was going to attempt to leave the park, in which he ran every day, but just as he thought the pain was fading, a sharp shrill pain caused him to lose his balance. He fell over onto the concrete floor; his leg in spasm. He lay on the ground; his water bottle rolled away from him as his hand released it, and instinctively grabbed hold of his leg. He cursed under his breath as his face contorted, not sure he was actually going to be able to get up. People stared at him but continued to walk by; well that was this city all over.
Slowly; Seb rolled onto his back and sat up; his leg curled up to his chest as he began to massage his muscle. This totally sucked. He was in pain, and he had little idea how he was going to make it to his apartment. Granted he didn’t live too far from the park; but that wasn’t the point. The pain was quite incredible, but as he massaged it, it gently began to resolve itself. Still his leg felt weak; he’d obviously over done it on the exercise front this week. He rolled the leg up on his black sweat pants and watched the muscle twitch under his skin. He sighed and adjusted the neck of his white tee shirt and looked around hoping there would be someone passing who he knew who might help.

sydney was walking home from her art class caring a huge canvas under her arm. normally she had her dad pick her up but today he had some important client stuff he had to attend to. so she was stuck having to carry this heavy thing not that she really minded. sydney was use to walking through the streets of new york alone. she walked to and from school and she was always carrying something art related. humming to herself she decided to cut through central park because it would be easier to get to her house that way from her class. sydney was a fan of this new class she was taking mostly because her teacher was so much more lenient. she also hated drawing fruit so there was none of that. sydney couldn't stand sitting and drawing a bowl of fruit over and over again. sure it helped when learning how to shade but in the end all you had was some useless picture. she preferred drawing people and animals. things that she was actually interested in. sydney could tell that she was going to have fun in that class. her canvas was a painting of a girl who decided to model for the class. how she could sit still for the entire time sydney had no idea. they spent about a week just trying to get everything right with her. she got to see all the drawings everyone did of her and seeing her face light up was rather pleasing.
walking through central park she thought back to when she was here with tuberose and bit her lip. maybe if he wasn't busy today she could invite him out to do something. hopefully he would be up to it and sydney wouldn't look like a complete loser when she asked him. looking around the park she paused when she noticed some guy on the ground holding his leg in pain. sydney looked around and wondered if anyone was going to go over to help him but people just seemed to walk by. she had no idea what she could possibly do but she wasn't going to just keep walking when some guy obviously needed some help. walking over to him sydney stopped a few steps in front of him. she was a rather outgoing person so whenever she saw someone who needed help she didn't heist to see what she could do. are you alright? she asked knowing that the obvious answer was no. she wasn't sure what she could do considering she was only about five three and was holding a huge canvas under her arms. physically she wouldn't be able to do anything because he had to be over six feet and there was no way she could help him up or carry him to a bench or something. but she could always go for help if he wanted it.

Shane woke up early that morning, very unhappy. He let his eyes trace the patterns on his ceiling from when he was a little kid. They were the patterns of different plays and he knew exactly which lines represented him because those lines were always red. He missed the times that him and his dad laid on the floor and learned the plays that way. Now it was over because Shane had been the one who caused his dad's suicide with a damn car. That suicide note sat in the bottom of his closet. He'd never shown his mother and he never got it back out to read it. For some reason, Shane couldn't bring himself to throw the stupid piece of paper away because it was almost the only thing Shane had left of his father. He let his mind wander away from his recently dead father and sat up in bed, the blankets still covering his lower half. He sighed and ran his hand backward through his shaggy brown hair. He closed his eyes and stretched his arms towards the ceiling. He had school today not that was anything new. He didn't particularly like Belmont but he had to deal with it if he wanted to keep playing football. He was tired of seeing --- Cooper giving him accusing looks and checking to see if he was showing any interest in girls. Shane wasn't big on girls other than for sex now... He just didn't care to have a girlfriend because he was afraid of getting too close and then losing them like what had happened with his father.
Shane Xzavier Moore uncovered his lower half and rolled his legs over the edge of his bed before standing up. He stretched one more time and then went through his closet looking for something to wear. His rough hands landed on a plain t-shirt and he grabbed a pair of faded jeans with some random belt. He didn't care too much about what he wore anymore. He used to make sure that he wore just the right thing but he barely even looked at what he wore anymore. He slipped his clothing on over his plain boxers and swung his arms, trying to wake himself up. He shook his head slightly, getting his shaggy hair out of his face and walked to his bathroom and found a comb to tame his hair. He combed it out and then went to eat breakfast and brush his teeth after. He then went to his room and stuffed his school folder in his plain black backpack. He didn't bother grabbing his textbooks. Shane would tell the teachers he'd "forgotten" them. He put his Nikes on and then headed out of his house after grabbing his keys. He climbed in his truck and started the engine, letting it roar.
Shane quickly changed his course from going to school to going to the park. He wasn't going to show up for school because he really just didn't WANT to show up. He never did but today, he really just wasn't going to go. He went to Central Park because he didn't wanna go home either. He kept his cell-phone turned off so nobody would bother him about not being in this class or asking where he was. He parked his car, got out (grabbing his football), and just wandered. He tossed the football in the air a couple of times when his eyes found some random guy sitting on the ground. "Hey...You okay there?" Then he turned and saw Sydney....Someone he seriously disliked. He gave her a glance, a slight nod, and then looked back to the guy, not bothering anything else with Sydney.

Seb took a deep breath; thank fully the pain was beginning to resolve. Now he just needed to get up. He sighed and glanced around the park curiously. People in New York were so rude. They were all wrapped up in their own business afraid to take five seconds from their schedule to help someone in need. He pulled the leg of his sweat pants back over his calf and continued to massage the muscle with his thumbs. He used to be quite good at massage; his ex never complained at least. But that was the past, and massaging someone else was very different to palpating a damaged muscle in your painful calf. His thoughts were distracted as a female voice cut in. He didn’t recognise the voice, but he turned his head to face it’s direction. He was faced by a stranger. A girl with bright coloured hair and a pretty face, carrying a large canvas. Typical art student, he presumed, but either way; artists usually had eccentric personalities and interesting backgrounds. Plus she was the only one who was around to help him and she was pretty. He wasn’t exactly going to turn her down.
A smirk danced across his lips as he stopped massaging his calf. ”Hey… Yeah; I’m okay. Well I think I am.” He told her shrugging his shoulders, ”You couldn’t lend me a hand could you? I guess you have that picture… ” He asked her curiously and then backtracked, as he moved around so his left knee was bent and his right leg out straight. The moment he stuck it out he felt a shooting pain; he knew right there that he wouldn’t be able to weight bare on it. He could hardly hop all the way home, but at this rate he may have to. ”I’m Seb.” He told her, just as a guy approached them. He glanced between them making the presumption they knew each other; they were probably about the same age.
Seb knew who he was. The guy played football Seb was sure of it. He was still a fan of the team he used to play for. Not that he expected him to know who he was. It had been years since Seb had played for Belmont. ”Hey… I’m okay… just an old injury… motorbike accident; plays up sometimes.” He explained, rubbing his brow with his arm to remove the dew beads of perspiration. Seb looked between the two and looked back at the male; ”Any chance you can give me a hand up?” He asked the boy who looked about three, maybe four years his junior. ”I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to stand and put weight through it.” He shrugged, about to attempt to stand. He felt the pulsating pain again but breathed through it, taking nice even breaths almost as though he was in labour.
He hoped at least one of the strangers would come to his aid as he attempted to stand. Seb pushed up through his leg and yelled as he did so, drawing attention to himself as his balance swayed slightly. He caught onto the male and used his shoulder as a balance aid. ”Thanks… do you play for Belmont?” He asked curiously as he tried to steady himself, and attempted to put some weight through his right leg. Seb smirked at the girl and nodded to his bottle of water which wasn’t too far away from him. ”Could you pass me my water bottle please? Thanks Doll.” He asked her and then responded before she even had a chance to answer him. Seb liked younger girls than him, they were easier to manipulate and they were far less complicated. He’d give both of them a free drink if they ever set foot in his bar. ”Do you two have names?” He asked them curiously.

he said he was okay and sydney wondered for a moment if he was going to be one of those guys who didn't want help from a girl. even if he wasn't going to ask for it sydney was going to help him anyways because it was obvious that he needed it. well i can definitely try she told him with a nod. she wasn't sure how helpful she would be but she could at least try and see how it happened. sydney looked around for something to lean the canvas on so that she would be able to use both of her hands to help. it was almost half her height so it made wanting to help much more difficult. right when he introduced himself someone else came over and sydney rolled her eyes. of all the people who had to be here it was shane. he was probably here to ruin her painting again because she wasn't the least bit interested in him. of all the people at beltmont he had to be the guy she hated the most. if she was a little bigger she would definitely consider trying to punch him in the face. but at where she was now she doubted anything she could do would cause him any real physical harm. oh but she wished she really did. ignoring him as he did her she listened as he explained that he had been in a motorbiking accident. one of the many reasons sydney's mother refused to let her anywhere near a motorbike. even though she thought they looked pretty cool sydney was always afraid that she'd just slide right off of one in the middle of the street. not the prettiest of images when you thought about it.
but at least shane could be useful now that he was here. he would be able to help seb get up much easier than she would be able to. they were both around the same height and weight so shane would easily be able to support him when he stood up. sydney was probably a foot or so shorter than he was so there was no way she'd be able to handle him leaning on her. she'd probably fall over along with him and then they would just be back where they started. he attempted to stand up but almost lost balance and sydney's eyes widened a little not sure what she could do. if she even tried to catch him she would fail but he was able to catch onto shane. he was useful, just as a wall though. other than that she would have preferred he wasn't around. but now that the guy had help sydney thought this was her time to probably leave. there wasn't anything else she could do to help the guy. and if he did need help he could just use shane the wall moore over there. but before sydney could start leaving he asked her if she could pass him his water bottle that he had probably dropped when he fell. even though sydney didn't appreciate being called doll she walked over and picked up the water bottle. it wasn't as though she had much of a choice in if she was getting it or not because he assumed she would be up for it. she walked over to him with a fake smile and handed it to him. you're welcome she said not sure what she thought about this guy just yet. now he asked for their names. yet another reason sydney couldn't leave the two just yet. i'm sydney she said holding out her free hand for him to shake.

Shane Xzavier Moore thought this man was in a pathetic state and made a mental note to try not to get stuck in this man's situation, ever. He wasn't sure why he was even bothering to stop seeing that Sydney was already here and could help the man. It wouldn't be too hard for her to help, so why was Shane here? 'Cause he thought the man was in a pathetic state and couldn't help himself. He had to stop for the guy and he knew that most people in New York City wouldn't stop to help. Hell, if Shane had seen this four or five months ago, he wouldn't have thought twice about the man but Shane's brain had changed quite a bit after losing his father. "Mental note of the day; do not ride motor bikes." He half smiled at the man on the ground, looking at him for a moment before letting his eyes wander the park. There weren't many people here today and Shane felt stupid for stopping. He felt stupid for being here.
Shane Xzavier Moore was a hot shot, a football player at Belmont. He had all the money he could possibly ever want and he had everything he could ever want...Other than his father of course. Every material item that Shane could ever want was right at his fingertips. He didn't help people because that wasn't his thing. Somebody else would handle it. Sydney here was handling this man who needed help. Shane didn't need to be here and he turned to walk away but hesitated. Sydney was so damn small and it was doubtful that the man would even be able to walk. It seemed the man was in an awful situation and Shane could stay here and help the man out and feel slightly happy or he could walk away and find something better to do with his time that would keep him entertained for hours. The answer was obvious to Shane; he wanted to find something better to do but yet, he was still standing here.
Shane put a hand out and then watched as the man tried to get up. Seb...Was it Seb? Yeah, the guy's name was Seb, Shane had heard the name before but he didn't feel like figuring out where he'd heard it. He inwardly winced as Seb got up and Shane moved where the man could catch his shoulder. "I do. I play for Belmont as Wide Receiver on the football team, forward for the basketball team, and first base for baseball." He smiled. Shane was definitely a sports fanatic and he always would be, unless he died of course. Then he wouldn't be any kind of fanatic unless dead people liked the dirt and their comfy little coffins under the ground. "Good luck getting her to like you. She looks sweet on the outside but she's sour on the inside." He smirked at his own joke and just stood there. He was unsure of what to do but he did know that he couldn't stand here all day with Seb and Sydney.
Shane didn't feel awkward in the least but he didn't want to have a verbal battle with Sydney right now even though he'd for sure caused one by calling her sour. He couldn't help it when his mouth ran like that because her very presence put him in a bad mood just 'cause he thought she was kind of a bitch. He sighed unhappily and then he just barely caught the man's questions. "I do. Don't know about her. But my name is Shane. Shane Moore." Hopefully no one would recognize the last name as the last name of the man who'd committed suicide three months ago. Hopefully no one would recognize the last name of the Little League coach who'd got into a violent car wreck and died from it. It was all purposeful but no one knew the reason why Dayton Moore, Shane's father, had killed himself. It was all Shane's fault and nobody knew that but Shane.
