she acts like summer and walks like rain --------------- reminds me that there's time to change [/blockquote] Her alarm clock had not woken her up that morning, and so needless to say Kyla had had to get ready for school at a fairly fast pace. Usually she took her time, enjoyed the mornings and the late summer sunrise, but this morning everything was rushed and there’d been no enjoyment for her. This, of course, didn’t exactly put her in the best mood; while she wasn’t grumpy, she wasn’t in her usual relaxed state. Kyla had been quick in getting ready – she’d washed her face and then proceeded to throw her dark brown wavy locks into a relaxed ponytail that complemented her cheek bones nicely. Most of the time she just ran a comb through her hair and was done; her hair was naturally thick and wavy, so it was nice not having to do much to it to make it look good. That was the best part about being half Italian – she inherited killer hair from her mother. Of course, that wasn’t the only thing she’d inherited. Because her mother had been a model in her younger years, Kyla had inherited much of the Italian genes – tall, dark, exquisitely pretty. Besides being a clone of her mother, the only feature her father gave her was her stunning blue eyes; almost the exact shade of Charles Hayes’ eyes. Kyla was pretty, yes, but she didn’t ever try to acknowledge it like the rest of the girls walking around the halls of Belmont Prep. So many of the girls were so petty and conceited that Kyla was better off making friends with guys, whom were a lot easier to hang out with. She’d always been a guy’s girl, and while some of the more vicious girls thought she was a slut for it, it was really just because Kyla was laid-back, and didn’t want to talk about the latest fashion trend and the most expensive handbag, much to her fashion-adoring mother’s chagrin.
Since she hadn’t had enough time, and she preferred as less makeup as possible anyways, Kyla had applied just a little bit of concealer and moisturizer, as well as blush, on her skin, and had swiped one coat of mascara over her long, dark eyelashes. It wasn’t much, but Kyla was comfortable in her bare skin anyways, so it didn’t bother her to walk around in little to no makeup. She didn’t like the feeling of wearing a mask, and so often natural was her preferential choice. Her outfit, however, was another story; since she usually was out of bed early enough, Kyla was always able to choose just the right outfit – comfortable, but still moderately stylish. This morning, however, she’d chosen the closest thing she could find: a lavender dress that was hanging towards the middle of the rack, and that hadn’t been worn in quite a few months. While she didn’t normally wear dresses to school, she hadn’t really had much time to choose anything else, and besides, it was warm enough outside to be able to don such a lightweight piece. So she’d slipped it over her head and grabbed a pair of nude flat sandals before hurrying over to her jewelry corner. She had acquired thousands of pieces of jewelry over the years, and rarely wore all of it, so she’d picked up her recently worn pearl bracelet and her favorite vintage Chanel pearl earrings that her mother had given her two years ago for Christmas. She wore the earrings practically every day of the week, and today was no different. There’d been no time for breakfast, so after quickly brushing her teeth, Kyla had spritzed herself with her favorite perfume – Marc Jacob’s Daisy – grabbed her cross-body bag from Barney’s, and rushed out the door. Thankfully, she’d had zero homework the night before, so she’d left all her books in her locker.
Without even a good morning to the rest of the household of the Hayes penthouse on Fifth Avenue, Kyla had practically flown out the door and waited barely thirty seconds before catching a taxi. Since she hadn’t had breakfast, Kyla had made sure to make a quick stop at Starbucks to buy a vanilla latte before catching another taxi to Belmont Prep. However, when she arrived, to her surprise – and annoyance – there was plenty of time to spare; she’d forgotten that she always set her clock twenty five minutes ahead so as not to be late. With a disgruntled expression, Kyla entered the Quad, the area where most students relaxed in the early morning hours. She sat down on one of the benches in a huff and adjusted her dress, making sure she wasn’t flashing anybody. Her dark ponytail fell over her bare shoulder as she pulled out her iPhone from her bag, her fingers gliding over the screen as she texted various people. She honestly didn’t know what to do with herself at such an early time in the morning, and she was thankful that Autumn was setting in and it wasn’t unbearably hot and humid anymore. She sighed heavily, her lips taking small sips of her cool latte and her bright blue eyes taking a long look around the sunny Quad as she tried to search for someone she knew. It would certainly make this off morning much better.

luke had been fast asleep until he heard a loud noise coming from the kitchen. he wasn't sure what it was but he found himself rolling out of bed to go and check it out. he stumbled a bit when he first got out of bed still a little disoriented. once he got his balance he was out his room and walking towards the kitchen which was normally never used by anyone but him. he found his step-mother attempted to make breakfast but it seemed as though all she accomplished was breaking a few dishes. with a grin luke went back to his room not wanting to bother with her. if he really wanted he could have helped her out and gave her a few pointers but she could probably figure everything out for herself. he walked into his room and glanced at the clock then did a double take and looked at it once more. this had to be on the first times luke was actually up much earlier than he needed to be. normally luke would either barely get to school on time or he'd show up late. most of the time he was late but his teachers were already use to it so they never gave him too much grief. luke wondered if he could just fall back asleep but then he heard another crash in the kitchen and he winced. there was no way he was going to get back to his sleep with godzilla in the kitchen. he would just find something else to do with his mornings that didn't involve him being at home. now all he had to do was get ready for school. walking into the bathroom luke splashed some water on his face to try and wake himself up. he stared at himself in the mirror as he wiped the water off his face. the bangs under his eyes were slightly obvious from all the late night partying he did. luke really just needed a day for himself to just spend the day relaxing. but no matter how many times he planned those types of situations something always seemed to occur that distracted him and kept him up all night. shrugging it off luke continued on with his morning routine wanting to get out of the house as soon as possible. once he was done luke made his way towards his room to get changed. the weather was supposed to be nice out so he made sure to dress accordingly.
gathering his things luke was ready to leave. he made his way through his house and paused for a moment when it smelled like something was burning. peeking into the kitchen he smirked at the sight of his father and step-mother staring at the burnt pancakes she had tried to make. obviously giving up she pulled out her phone probably to have someone come and make the food. shaking his head luke headed towards the door, his step-mother didn't seem to be able to do anything on her own. but as long as his father had money she would probably never have to. opening the door luke headed towards the elevator. the building was silent as the elevator went down from the penthouse to the lobby. waving goodbye to chris who was always behind the desk watching the lobby luke went through one more door and was finally outside. the one thing luke loved about new york was that no matter what time it was the streets were always lively. it really was the city that never sleeps. checking his watch he still had tons of time till school started so he decided to hit a nearby cafe and get something to drink. the cafe was only a few blocks away so it didn't take him too long to get there. walking in the line was long but not too bad. he loved coming here alone because the girl that worked there was rather pretty and only a few years older than him.she was use to seeing him most mornings and he couldn't resist flirting every once in a while especially considering she didn't seem to mind. ordering what he normally did he grinned at the girl as he waited for her to put what he wanted into a small bag and gave him his drink. he left the store and when he looked more carefully at his drink he realized that there was a number written on it. grinning for a moment he sipped his drink and made his way towards the school, it was still early but he could probably sit on one of the benches and eat the muffin he had in the bag.
a few more blocks later he was finally at this school. looking around he was surprised to see people actually here. luke was never a morning person so whenever he came across some he was always suprised. he was about to take a seat at an empty bench when he noticed kyla in a beautiful little dress sitting all alone. she was one of the few girls that actually resisted his charming ways and never let him do anything she wasn't up for. even though most guys avoided girls like that she was just so much more interesting to him. and whenever she was annoyed with him she'd make a cute face. walking over to where she was luke took a seat right next to her barely leaving any space between them. you're here rather early he told her with a small smile glad he found someone entertaining to spend some time with.

she acts like summer and walks like rain --------------- reminds me that there's time to change [/blockquote] She’d been so caught up in her iPhone that she’d failed to notice him coming her way, so when Luke Moreau sat down next to her as close as he could, she jumped a little, her blue eyes widening. He had a small grin on his face and she turned to look at him, an eyebrow raised as he made his statement. “I could say the same for you,” she teased, smirking slightly as she stuffed her phone back into her bag. Kyla briefly wondered why Luke really was here so early, because most of the time he was always late. She assumed it usually had to do with late nights and escorting the ladies that spent the night out of his penthouse, so it was definitely surprising to see him at school at this hour, though she could spot the under eye circles in the morning glint. For as long as Kyla had known him, Luke had always been the suave ladies’ man of the school, always down for a drink and never passing up a hot girl. She always laughed at the girls that practically attacked him just to be able to spend one night with him, because Kyla had never let herself do such a thing. To her, Luke was one of her closest guy friends, and she enjoyed his presence just as much as she would enjoy being around her best friend Frances. Sure, he always made passes at her and never failed to give her a good pick up line or two, but it was all fun and games. It was just how their relationship was; none of it was truly any serious. True, she wouldn’t deny that Luke was probably the best good-looking guy in the senior class, if not the whole school, but that didn’t mean she was going to sleep with him at every given chance.
Taking the last few sips of her latte, she shifted her body so that she was faced mostly in his direction, the close proximity between them neither uncomfortable nor distracting. There was something deeper about Luke, she knew that; despite his devil-may-care personality, he always seemed to be hiding something, and this intrigued Kyla to know end. She loved mysteries, she loved solving them, and to her, Luke Moreau was the biggest mystery of them all. However, she was intelligent and tactful enough to know that delving deeper would be rude; if he wanted to let the world know of his private life, he would, and that was that. Kyla was a lot like that, in a way; while the Belmont students knew she rolled in money (as did pretty much everyone in the entire school), Kyla didn’t flaunt it like the others. She didn’t shout her personal life at the top of her lungs and she just let others try and figure her out for themselves. Perhaps others thought she was mysterious, but Kyla only thought she was smart – it was far better to keep things private, unless you wanted every student knowing your personal business. Or worse: Lady T. Kyla could not stand Lady T with everything she had, and if she had the computer skills to hack the bitch and take down her site, she would. Even though the gossip blogger never really posted anything about Kyla, it still annoyed her to no end to have someone stalking their lives and blasting their business on every front page. This wasn’t a reality television show; they were normal teenagers, who deserved normal lives, not having to worry about their every damn move.
A pleasant smile was still attached to her full lips as Kyla situated herself, pushing back the strands of her ponytail behind her shoulder. “So, who was the lucky girl this morning?” Kyla asked, her eyes glittering mischievously as she directed her question towards his tired eyes. Maybe Luke had kicked out the girl bright and early this morning? Surely, judging by his features, he had had a wild time the night before. And, knowing Luke, wild always seemed to end up involving a pretty girl who was down for a good time. Kyla wondered why Luke subjected himself to such things when most guys tended to stick with one girl, but how could you really figure out anything about anyone? No one really knew the real truth about anybody except the person himself. It was only simple logic.

he seemed to have surprised her because she was so into her phone. luke couldn't help but smile when he noticed her slightly jump when he sat down. very true he told her with a nod as he took another sip of his drink. everyone knew he wasn't a morning person and unless he had school he wouldn't be caught out of bed until the afternoon. believe me, if i could i would still be in bed he told her honestly. if his step-mother wasn't home he would be fast asleep even though his alarm clock would have went off. luke had about three alarms and he still found it difficult to wake up in the morning. he had one on his clock and two on his phone. luke even tried to put his alarm clock on the other side of the room so he'd have to get up to turn it off. that didn't work either because he was stumbling to rush tot he sound and would either end up bumping into something or having to suffer through the noise. but as soon as that clock was off he was back under the covers and went back to sleep almost instantly. back home he never would have been able to get away with it. his grandfather always had him up early to help with the restaurant preparation. he would be up before the sun rise and had no problem with it. but then again those were the days when he was always asleep early because everything normally tired him out. but as soon as he got here he seemed to be up partying all night and there was barely enough time for him to sleep in the mornings. he smiled for a moment when he thought of working at the restaurant. but he was far from there and wasn't going back anytime soon.
he smiled for a moment when she asked about the girl he had been with. jealous? he teased knowing that she wasn't interesting in him in that type of way. you know i'd drop them for you any day he added with a wink. he couldn't start a conversation with kyla without a few of those comments. even though he was constantly making those types of jokes with her she just pushed them away. it was nice to be able to have a friend of the opposite gender that he hadn't slept with or was planning to sleep with soon. it was a change of scenery and the conversations were different. with kyla their conversations weren't all things he knew she wanted to hear. he didn't spend the entire time just trying to coax her into sleeping with him. with most of the girls he was around that was his main priority. none of them seemed interesting enough for him to want anything more. but it wasn't as if they really wanted anything else from him. the girls he happened to be around were just as bad as he was. and in the end they both got what they wanted though normally he was the one that looked like the bad guy for sleeping around so much. but everything was different with kyla he could say what he wanted and she would always have an interesting response for him. and she wasn't like all the girls who were at school who only cared about being popular. the things girls did these days to climb up the social ladder were rather surprising and hard to believe. turning his attention back on kyle he smiled glad to be able to spend some time with her. every guy needed a good friend that was a girl so that he could go for her when he needed advice. and the girl luke could go too was kyla and hopefully she felt the same way about him.

she acts like summer and walks like rain --------------- reminds me that there's time to change [/blockquote] Getting up early enough to get to school on time was always a bit of a struggle, but normally Kyla always pulled through. She knew that, had she not owned at least three alarm clocks, she’d be much like Luke; always arriving late. School was such a hassle, even if she worked hard at getting good grades; if it was her choice, she would go to school every other day, or something along the lines of that. That way, she’d be able to catch up on her sleep when she needed it most. There was nothing she loved more than sleep, and she was sure Luke felt the same way. Kyla wondered why Luke partied during the weekdays if it only caused lack of sleep, and tardiness; she understood if the students wanted to go wild on the weekends, but during the week just seemed a bit much. She could never be a partier like that herself. She wasn’t opposed to a few drinks now and then, but the amount that some of the Belmont Prep students partied was astounding to her. It just didn’t seem like there was enough time for all of that, not with so many other things to worry about. Then again, those that partied the most tended to worry the least about grades, but some people always surprised her. Some were able to balance it out and have it all in life; she wasn’t complaining, though. She had everything she needed, and she worked for everything she got when it came to academics and sports. Wealth could only get you so far, after all. Daddy could buy her all of the things she needed in life, but she would have to make success in her own way, and she liked it like that. Kyla liked the satisfactory feeling of purely and wholly winning something, whether it be a scholarship or a competition; she earned what she got, and how much she earned depended on how much effort she put into it. Therefore, Kyla put in as much effort as possible, knowing that her future would be bright if she did so.
She smirked at his wink and batted her eyelashes playfully. “Good, I was beginning to worry,” Kyla lamented jokingly, nudging his shoulder with her own. It was nice not having to worry about anything with Luke, about what she said or what she should say; with Luke, they could tease at each other all day and still have a fun time. Sure, he flirted with her until the sun set behind the horizon, but it was all for fun, they never truly meant anything by it. If they had been mutually interested in each other, they probably would have hooked up a long time ago, though admittedly Kyla was a virgin. That didn’t mean she wasn’t experienced in other areas, but she generally didn’t like flaunting this around to the rest of the world, preferring to keep her love life private. She set her drink on the bench next to her and reached into her bag to pull out a piece of mint gum, popping it into her mouth and chewing it lightly, her blue gaze traveling back to the boy sitting next to her. “How have you been? I feel like I haven’t seen you at all lately, and you know how much that upsets me, Lukey,” she teased, laughing quietly as she leaned against the back of the bench. It was true; with so many things and a busy schedule to tend to, Kyla had barely had time to catch up with her friends the past couple of weeks, and she knew Luke was too busy making his rounds with girls to have time for anything else anyways. Senior year was starting out hectic, but she knew in a few weeks everything would calm down just a little bit and allow her some breathing room, because at the moment she felt like she was juggling the world.

you're the only one for me he told her with a small smile as she nudged him. luke knew that he would never get tired of hitting on kyla no matter where he was in life. hopefully she would always have a fun reaction for him no matter how long he had been going at it. taking a sip of his drink he realized that he still had the muffin that he hadn't finished eating. looking at the number at the bottom luke took out his phone and quickly saved it to his address book. he could not for the life of him remember her name so he just put in bakery girl because that was the only way he would know who she was. now he wouldn't have to worry about accidentally trashing her number somewhere. muffin?
he asked her offering her part of the one he had in the bag. breaking off a piece of it he stuck it in his mouth and chewed on it for a moment. just call and i'll be there in a heartbeat luke told her dramatically as he put a hand over his heart. but she did have a point considering he never saw her these days. luke normally didn't spend unnecessary time in school unless it had to do with soccer practice. other than that he was always out enjoying the wonders of new york. for him that meant going to as many parties as he could manage and meeting as many girls as he was able to take home. kyla on the other hand seemed to be busy with more important things like school work. luke had no idea how she would have enough time to really enjoy life if she was always busy doing such boring things. they were seniors this was their last year and it was time to lay back and just go with the flow. i've been pretty good luke told her with a slight nod. his life was going about as normal nothing really seemed to be changing. even though most people expected that he lived such a fun life and was never bored it was slightly far from the truth. partying all the time and sleeping around with random girls surprisingly got boring after a while. that didn't stop him though because he still enjoyed it, just not as much as he use to. how are you? keeping your eyes off other guys i hope he told her giving her a look. but if she did find the right guy luke would honestly be rather happy for her. kyla was such a fun girl to be around it would be a shame if she didn't get to enjoy that time with a certain special guy. would luke mind being that guy? definitely not, unfortunately he couldn't be the type to stick to a relationship for very long. she could do much better than him in that area and he didn't mind being the best friend. at least then he could get all the inside scoops on their interesting relationship. (sorry this took me forever!) [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
