you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The last couple of weeks had been quite eventful for Mason. Actually, it had all started with the new school year. He was in a new city and new school. It was a big change from his Jersey life. Moving over the summer was a step to letting go of the past. At least his family assumed it would be but getting over his brother’s death wasn’t going to be that easy. Not for Mason. Coming into a completely new environment, he wanted to do things differently. Start a new life. Be a new person. One that no one from Jersey would recognize and someone who was hiding behind a mask to all the new people he would meet. The first big event was Jenna. His “fling” over the summer during football and cheerleading camp. Girls hadn’t really been a priority in his life but this was different. He fell for the underclassmen with ease. Up until he felt insecure. He vowed not to tell anyone in his new home of his past. There was no reason but that entailed keeping a secret that was connected to his drinking habits. Drinking habits that ultimately pushed one of the best things in his life away. He suffered the lose and plunged deeper into a hole. One that he didn’t believe he would recover from. Mason had turned to alcohol more than anything in his new life. He let the liquor ease his pain. It was the only thing that could cure him. At least until he met Emily. What had started out as a hook-up spree turned into something much more. She not only helped cure his pain but made him feel like never before. So much that he found himself fighting to be with her. Em was a “no string attached” kind of girl and just when Mas was about to give up hopes of being with her, she finally cracked.
Which led him to today. He felt quite accomplished to have the one girl that no one else could. Mason knew the story behind her personality. Emily had admitted to her past one night over conversation. At that particular moment he had felt bad for pushing their relationship as far as he had. She had good reason to act the way she did. He couldn’t even imagine going threw what she had but as much as he wanted to let it go. To allow their relationship to say as ‘just friends’, he couldn’t. Mason wasn’t a quitter, especially when it came to something he wanted. Emily was who he wanted and as antagonizing as it was, he continued to push her to her limits until he prevailed. The accomplish wasn’t just for himself though. He wanted to prove to her that there was such thing as love and that he would never hurt her in the way she had been before.
Mason forced himself out of bed around ten o’clock, which was early for him. With the exhaustion from school and football, sleeping in past noon was the norm for him. Now that Emily was officially his girl friend, he needed to spend his spare time with her. He not only needed to but wanted to. He reached for his phone and sent her a text saying he would be over to pick her up in an hour. He hadn’t really planned anything before hand. He liked to be spontaneous and decided he wanted to take Emily out to eat. Since they were a couple now, they needed to do couple things. It only seemed logical. Plus she deserved it. Emily deserved the right male treatment that she never got. After sending his warning, Mason jumped into the shower and freshened himself up. He put on a clean pair of clothes; jeans and a simple t-shirt would do. Then headed out the door, taking the car keys with him. On numerous occasions he had walked to her apartment but seeing as this was a date he needed the camaro. No matter how many times he had driven it, shivers still ran threw his spine once sitting behind the wheel. It was a fear he would eventually have to overcome. Giving her more than an hour, Mason arrived at Emily’s place and knocked on the door, anxiously awaiting for the day to start.

Waking to the turn of her stomach and spending the first few minutes of her day groggy and bending over the toilet seat was not how Emily had intended this Sunday morning to begin. Granted Emily should be used to this feeling since it was the same way that Mother Nature had been waking her for the last two weeks. It had been vomit in the morning and restlessly uncomfortable sleep in the evenings and Emily was already sick of it. Couldn’t time just fast-forward seven and a half months? Sighing, Emily grasped her abdomen as the nausea calmed down. After assuring herself that she wasn’t going to vomit again and flushing the toilet, Emily retreated back to her comfortable bed, though it was missing one very important thing: Mason.
It was rare for Mason to not spend a Saturday night over at Emily’s but this morning, she was slightly relieved to not have to hide her vomit breath from him. Turning over and trying to find a comfortable position on her side, Emily heard the faint buzzing of her cell phone on the bedside table. Extending her arm, she cupped the small piece of plastic in her hand and looked at it. The screen told her that she had a new text message from Mason and she couldn’t hide the smile from her lips. It had only been a few days that Emily and Mason had been ‘official’ and Emily definitely felt like she was in the ‘honeymoon’ stage. Mason was perfect and could do no wrong in her eyes so when the text offered a lunch date with her boyfriend, Emily couldn’t refuse. Sending him a quick reply of: Sounds good, baby. See you then. <3, Emily pulled the covers from her body one more time and stood, heading over to her closet.
A date with Mason really did sound like a nice way to spend the day. They hadn’t been on an ‘official date’ since they had become ‘official’ and Emily was excited to go out and flaunt her boyfriend. Why was it still hard for her to think of having a boyfriend? Yeah, Emily had dated plenty of guys in the past but there was something so different about what she had with Mason, or maybe it was just Mason that was different than all the other guys she had dated, but either way he was a keeper and Emily wasn’t planning on ever letting him go.
Stopping at the mirror next to her closet door, Emily sighed. Turning to her side, she lifted Mason’s shirt up to reveal her very slightly bumped belly. Emily had never been a big girl. She was average height and of average build but she was slender and took pride in being slender. Imagining her body protruding out so far that it would be more noticeable that anything else brought a small hint of sadness to her. Emily didn’t want to give up her body, even if that meant she could have a baby. Sighing again, she completely pulled the shirt from her body and began rummaging through her closet for something non-revealing to wear for the day. After settling on a high wasted red shirt and a pair of leggings, Emily turned and headed for the shower.
Emily was excited about seeing Mason, but she was nervous, too. She hadn’t seen him since she got the official word from her doctor that she was in fact pregnant. Emily had no clue how to tell Mason that she was going to be a mom and even though that was going to be a tough conversation, it was going to be the second half that broke him- the fact that Emily couldn’t tell him for certain that the baby belonged to him. With the warm water beating down on her, Emily slid her hands lovingly over the barely noticeable protrusion of her abdomen. As much as Emily knew she was not ready to be a mother, she was already in love with her baby. She had seen it through the ultrasound and in just one week, she would actually be able to hear its heart beat.
Stepping out of the shower, the reality of the afternoons conversation began weighing down on her. Emily knew that it would hurt Mason to remember that Emily had unprotected sex with Rigg one night while she was sleeping with Mason and that that might have caused her to become pregnant. Initially, Emily had only slept with Rigg to hurt Jenna even more but she really knew nothing about the guy and was praying that the baby would end up being Mason’s, though they wouldn’t know either way until she got the paternity test done.
Trying to move away from those unkind thoughts, Emily began to get ready for the day. Getting dressed was easy and putting on makeup this morning was easy, it was doing her hair that actually took effort. Blow-drying it and then curling it, Emily wanted to look beautiful for her day with Mason. Emily was aware of all the bad directions that the day could move in but as she heard the faint knocking of her door, she hoped that the day would stay smooth and easy and stress free.
Moving down the hallway, Emily unlocked the door and pulled it open. Mason stood tall and confident and just as attractive as she remembered him being. Stepping up to him, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his lips down to meet hers, grinning. ”Hello, boyfriend.” She chuckled, Squeezing him tightly before retreating back into her apartment and grabbing her purse. Stepping into the hallway with him, she closed her door. Once she ensured that she had everything that she needed, she beamed up at him. ”Lead the way?” She offered, lacing her fingers with his and awaiting him to lead them towards the day.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Mason leaned an arm against the door frame as the door opened. A large grin formed across his face as his eyes locked on her. She look as beautiful as she did any other day. She was simply stunning. Just looking at her sent chills down his spine. He let his lips linger against her before she pulled away. “Hey you.” His eyes watched her every move as she joined him outside. Mason was still baffled at the fact that they were a couple now. After the first time they had sex it was clear that their connection much more and he knew he would want more but coming this far made him feel lucky. Emily wasn’t the easiest girl to crack. She was very stubborn, as we he, and she had a past that haunted her. A past that made her cautious just about the thought of being in a relationship. He didn’t blame her but he wanted to prove that not all guys were the same. Mason hoped he could be everything she always wanted. “Alright, lets go.” He squeezed her hand gently as it tangled with him, then lead her out of the building and to his car that was patiently waiting to be driven. Nerves still ran threw his body as he glanced at the automobile but he hid the fear from her. She may have known about his brother but she didn’t know about his phobia
Mason walked her to the passenger side and opened to door. If it was one thing his mom taught him well it was manners, especially when it came to women. Treating the female anything less than she deserved was not acceptable. He could recall a time in grade school, when he picked on one girl in his class. He messed with her on playground and pushed her off the swing once. Boy did he get hell for that. Let’s just say his father wasn’t afraid to punish his kids but from that Mason learned his lesson. He grew up watching his parents; his father the head of the house but his mother was the neck that supported it and even though his father had the authority his mother could make him turn into anything that she wanted. She was the ultimate decision maker in the house and no matter Mason and his brother had to treat her with respect. There was no backing talking or trying to prove mom wrong. Mom was always right.
He took a seat next to Emily on the driver’s side, buckled up and drove out of the apartments. “I hope youre hungry.” He claimed, glancing at her momentarily. Mason tried to keep most of his attention on the road. It was hard with her sitting next to him but distractions only made him more fearful of driving. As he drove his hands waved before him on the steering wheel and he couldn’t help but notice his healing wounds. He thought back to the night at the club, when he punched his hand threw the bathroom mirror. That night had started on the wrong foot. Mason had gone to the club after receiving drunken text messages from his girl friend. One thing led to another and she was arguing with him about Jenna. If it was one thing that irritated him the most it was when Emily brought up his ex. Sure, in the beginning he had turned to her for sex because of the issues he was having with Jenna but everything was different now. He just wanted Emily to let go of the Jenna factor. Yes, he still had feelings for the junior. That was inevitable but maybe if he concentrated more on the relationship he was in now they would slowly fade away. Mason knew for sure that his feelings for Emily were beyond great and they were only getting better with each passing moment.
It didn’t take him long to arrive at the restaurant in which he made reservations at. He found and empty spot and parked before getting out and rushing to her side to open the door again. “You better like Italian food. Otherwise I fail at this.” Mason smirked, taking her hand in his as she exited the car. He may have had a lot of courtesy towards girls but being romantic was a downfall. He tried but somehow it always turned awkward. He hoped it would be different with Emily, considering that they got along so well and had already had sex. So the sex barrier had been broken, nothing could go wrong right? What if, being on an actual date, she realized this wasn’t for her? She was after all, so reluctant to be with him in the first place. Mason was worried he would screw it up by doing something wrong. He had already started watching what he drank, knowing he wouldn’t let another girl slip away because of that.

Why did his kisses always make her feel like she was flying? It was like one single touch from him could send her into a frenzy of butterflies and before she knew it, she was running, naked, though a field of daises. Or something incredibly cliché like that. Emily’s fingers tightened around his as they walked outside, greeted by the fresh air. Smiling at the car, Emily couldn’t help but giggle when Mason opened the car door for her and helped her inside. ”Thank you.” She smiled, stepping into the car and waiting for him to join her on the other side. The inside of his car was nice and comfy and reminded Emily why she liked cars so much. They were fast and fun and unpredictable. Then she remembered that Caleb had died in a car accident and her smirk quickly faded.
Emily nodded at the idea of food, remembering that she hadn’t eaten anything that morning and the tiny person in her tummy was craving nutrition. ”I am, actually, now that you mention it.” Smiling, Emily turned to admire Mason’s profile as he drove. His jaw line was pronounced and his eyes were bright. Mason was beautiful and if Emily was lucky enough to actually have her boyfriend be the father of her baby, their child would be beautiful, too. Furrowing her brows slightly, Emily reread her thoughts. Rigg was quite attractive, too, but Emily couldn’t help but hope that Mason was the baby’s father- for multiple reasons.
Extending her hand across the barrier between the seats, Emily rested her palm happily on Mason’s thigh. Since the first day she met Mason, they had both found touching to be incredibly important. Emily had to express her emotions for him and showing physical affection was just a convenient way to do so. Right now, the act of feeling his warmth was more so for her own personal comfort that anything else. Sliding her eyes up to the steering wheel, Emily sighed. His hand. Why had he hit the mirror? There was nothing wrong with him. Taking his hand in hers and pulling it away from the steering wheel, she kissed each of his shattered knuckles lovingly. Emily was saddened by the fact that she had continuously felt the need to bring up Jenna in their relationship but after that event, Emily swore she would never do it again. Guilt spread through her as she also remembered the excessive amount of alcohol she had consumed that night. She had been two weeks pregnant but didn’t know it and even though it was just one night, the potential damage that she could have caused the baby scared her and worst of all, she wouldn’t be able to know for sure until it was born. Hopefully her reckless actions wouldn’t affect the baby too badly. Hopefully.
As the car jolted to a stop outside the restaurant, Emily turned to Mason and smiled, leaning over and planting her lips against his softly. When he got out and opened her door, her smile grew. Mason was so courtly. ”I’m really enjoying this.” She giggled as she stepped out of the car and laced her fingers with his once again. ”And I love Italian food.” She smiled, squeezing his hand tightly. ”Just like I love you.” As soon as she said it, she wished she hadn’t. Really, Emily? Could you have possibly said anything more disgustingly cute? Chuckling slightly nervously, she followed the hostess to their table and sat down.
Staring across at him, Emily’s hand rested on her abdomen. How could she tell Mason about the baby? She knew she needed to tell him since he was most likely the father and was currently her boyfriend, but there was no easy way to say it and she knew he wouldn’t take to it very well. At least she assumed he wouldn’t, especially not when he found out that it might be Rigg’s kid instead. ”This restaurant is really nice.” She said, forcing a smile. Emily ddin’t want to bombard him with the news and potentially ruin their evening, but if he was going to get upset and want to leave, she would at least do him the courtesy of saving him the price of the meal.
Taking a sip of water, she sat up straight in her chair and looked at him, locking her eyes with his. There was clear fear and sadness in her eyes and she grew frustrated at herself again. How had she allowed this to happen? Why had she slept with Rigg? Why did she allow the idea of Jenna to affect her so badly? Sighing, she slid her hand across the table and offered her palm to hold his. ”Mason…before we get all cozy in here….there’s something I need to tell you.” Emily thought about waiting for a response from him for a second before she continued. ”I…..I’m pregnant.”

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -His courtesy was more than a favor for her. It was what Emily deserved. Opening doors was just the beginning. Mason would do whatever he could to please her. If it came down to buying her things, then so be it, though she didn’t really strike him as a gold digger. It wasn’t like he had much money anyways. Well, his parents did. They were the ones who gave him money, bought him the nice car, or nice clothes. It was an easy way for his parents to buy out their son’s happiness. It would have worked if fancy things were his style. Mason enjoyed being able to get what he wanted without having to worry about his spending limits. He liked having a nice roof over his head and complete support for school and sports but there were very few materialistic things he wanted. Place a guitar in front of him; new or old, acoustic or electric and he would be happy for hours. Music was like his replacement for video games or technology. Regardless, there were times throughout his life when Mason picked up a controller and admired being a youthful boy but melodies and notes were more interesting. Composing was his biggest ambition but football drowned that idea. For now he would fight for other things that he wanted. Like his relationship with Emily. He got it but now he had to perfect it.
“Good that means I’m doing my job.” He smirked as he pressed the lock button on his key chain. Hearing the car beep after them, he shoved the keys into his pocket and strolled into the restaurant with his girl friend. Mason slightly chuckled at her ‘cute’ comment, nudging her shoulder lightly with his. “Corny…but cute, just like you.” He teased, sticking his tongue out playfully. He knew that most girls enjoyed that kind of talk. It may not have meant much in his eyes but he knew it always meant something them. It’s was said that girls care more about the little things. Why? He wasn’t sure but it was the larger things that mattered most to him. Like he and Emily becoming an official couple. That was big and extremely important in his eyes. Worrying about whom she was hanging out with during the day wasn’t something he spent his time thinking about. Mason trusted Emily despite her old ways. It wasn’t like she ever cheated on anyone. Just slept with a lot of guys without being emotionally tied down with them. Thinking about it, he realized he was the one guy who could tame her. The one she actually fell for and gave a chance to. He wondered how many others had tried and failed at forming a relationship with her. She had made it crystal clear that he was different and she didn’t give in to just anyone. And has honored as he felt, why him? Why did Mason succeed? No matter the reasoning. He was happy where he was now. With her.
He followd the hostess to their table and took a seat across from Emily. He sprawled the menu out in front of him but on the table instead of up in the air where his view would be blocked. “It is but you pick anything you want.” He claimed, assuring her that the price was nothing to fret about. His eyes continuously bounced from the menu to her. Mason would have a hard time picking out what he wanted to eat. His attention was clearly else where. Which was entirely a bad thing, though they did come there to eat. It took a sudden and apparent mood change on Emily’s part to catch his complete focus. His eyes were locked with her as he witnessed her struggle to say something. There’s something she needs to tell me? Mason’s insides turned as anxiety took over. She doesn’t want to be with me anymore. She realized she doesn’t want a relationship…fuck. He was going crazy. His mind was boggling with thoughts, so much it felt like it would explode then and there. In front of her. In front of everyone in the restaurant. “Ok. Shoot.” Mason managed to blurt out a short response. He quickly reached for his water, feeling a dry lump in his throat that was causing him to hold his breath. Compose yourself Mason. In the midst of swallowing a large mouthful of water the words were said. ‘I’m pregnant.’ Choking slightly, he set the water back on the table. “You’re joking.” He let out a questionable laugh. Why would she lie about something like that? That was not something to joke about, especially to a guy who was barely eighteen years old and not mature enough to be a father.
Mason pulled his hand away from hers, slouching back into the chair. Part of him still wanted to believe this was fake. That just maybe he was in a bad dream and if someone pinched him he would wake up. “What?” He spoke again, completely baffled and unsure of what to say. The look of confusion swept over his face as he stared into the palm of his hand. He couldn’t even look at her. Not until it made sense to him. What wasn’t clear about it? Mason and Emily had been having unprotected sex from the get go. Of course there was chance he would get her pregnant but all of those times he was too into the moment to realize it. “You’re saying that I’m going to be a father?” He blurted out after a couple of minutes. What would his parents think? They didn’t even know he had a girlfriend. Mason might as well start digging his own grave because he would be dead when he told them the news.

k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ] - - - - - - - - -
Mason was perfect. He opened doors for her, he took her to nice restaurants, he didn’t make her feel bad about being ‘cute’- what else could she possibly ask for? When the hostess sized up Mason as they entered the restaurant, Emily grinned and stopped, pulling Mason into a deep, passionate kiss. Pulling away, Emily offered the hostess a sweet, satisfied smile. Emily couldn’t help it. Mason was her boyfriend and she was protective of that fact and he was beautiful and she wanted to show him off. Was that such a bad thing?
It wasn’t until Emily and Mason were sitting and overlooking the menus that Emily decided to speak, and she instantly regretted saying those awful words the moment they slipped from her tongue. Why did she tell him? Why did she tell Rigg? Why did anyone have to know? It would have been much easier for her to just go to a clinic and get it taken care of and just move on, pretending like it never happened and never telling anyone about it. But Emily couldn’t do that. In the week that she had known about the baby, she had formed an attachment to it that was deeper than she ever thought possible. It was deeper than any love or need she had ever felt. It was deeper than her love of anything else, including Mason. This baby gave her something to love that would always love her back. Something that would never leave her and something that no one could take away from her. This baby would save Emily from all the pain that she held inside and from all the fear she allowed to intrude her life. Emily needed this baby.
When Mason’s response came as disbelief, Emily looked away. Telling him that she was pregnant wasn’t even the hardest part. ”I’m not joking.” She whispered, sucking in a breath and strumming through her psychological resources trying to figure out the easiest way to tell him the second part of her ‘news’. ”Mason…..” She began, staring up at the ceiling in an effort to keep her tears safely tucked away. ”It might… not be yours.” Just simply saying those words triggered more emotion from Emily than she had felt all night. How could she have let this happen? How could she have possibly let this happen?!? Mason was the perfect guy, the perfect boyfriend and he would certainly make a perfect father, even though they were young.
When Mason pulled his hand from hers, her heart sank. Emily wanted the baby to be his. Emily wanted to have his baby and have the rest of his life. Emily wanted all of Mason and she wanted nothing to do with Rigg. Words would never be able to express how much guilt Emily held about sleeping with Rigg. Aside from it being sloppy sex and him making her feel horrible the next morning, Emily had been attached to Mason. Even then. And if she would have listened to her own heart and what everyone else was telling her, then she would have only been with Mason. Closing her eyes, she rested her hands in her lap and tried to keep her voice low and calm as she spoke. ”I know you must hate me for this and I know it was so wrong for me to sleep with Rigg and I know that you probably want out of this relationship now and…and….if that’s the case…I understand.” Her voiced cracked on the last word and she instantly knew that she didn’t mean what she was saying. It would not be okay with Emily if Mason bailed on her but he had the right to. He didn’t deserve to be pulled in to this sort of situation.
Emily could hardly stand the idea of relationships in the first place but she would never let someone be with her out of obligation. Emily had fallen in love with Mason. He completed a huge part of her that she never even knew was missing before but even with all the love that she felt for him, the idea of him feeling obligated to be there for her made her sick. ”I won’t know for another three weeks if you’re the father but if that is the case….” She looked up at him with tears in her eyes now. ”I’m not going to make you stay with me. I…I don’t need help financially and I think I can raise a baby on my own if you didn’t want to be there…” She blinked and looked away, unable to look him in the eyes because she was filled with so much guilt. Biting down on her bottom lip, she tried to finish her thoughts. ”I couldn’t live knowing that you were only around because you felt obligated to be..”

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Mason took in the moment as Emily kissed him passionately. He loved kissing her. He loved touching her. He loved everything about her. The kiss had tingled his sensations in certain places and part of him, the sexual part, just wanted to skip the meal completely and head back to her place for ‘desert‘. The physical attraction Mason had towards Emily was undeniable. That was how they expressed their feelings for each other; through their actions. It was simple and meaningful. As the saying goes, “actions speak louder than words” and they both weren’t afraid to act of their emotions. It was only when he wanted more out of the relationship, other than sex, did Mason ask for the words and the label. It was to finalize their status. To make it known to everyone else that the two were both ’taken’ and could no longer be touched by anyone else. Truth be told, jealousy steamed from that factor for Mason. When he realized he loved Emily he had to act because he wanted her and only for his keeping. He didn’t want other guys coming around to get at her. And it was visa versa for him. He knew it as he caught the look his girlfriend gave the hostess. It was Emily’s way of showing off and claiming her territory.
Mason wasn’t known for planning things ahead of time. That would mean he’d have to foretell the future and assume what would happened. That wasn’t his style. He liked to take chances. Not knowing what was ahead happened to be the most exciting part. But on this day and in this particular moment, Mason wished he could see into the future. That way he would at least have a fair warning about the bomb that was just dropped on him. If he had known maybe he would have ducked and covered or surpassed that mission as a whole. Learning that Emily was pregnant was one thing. Mason wasn’t prepared for a child but he was prepared to own up to his mistakes…at least if they were his mistakes. It was one thing after another and this next fact was a punch in the stomach. “Who then hell would be the father other than me?” His eyes were now locked on her, like the light in a confessional room. He was angry now. For those few minutes of exchanging words, Mason had actually believed that he was the father of the baby. Knowing that there was a chance he wasn’t the biological father meant that Emily had slept with someone else. He had no real reason to be made considering how little time they had actually been a couple. Sleeping with someone else while they still sex buddies was fair game but the thought made his temperature boil. His jaw muscles clenched as he tried to suppress his emotions. Mason had a terrible anger issues, which Emily had witnessed at the club but this time there was no mirror to punch. Nothing to reopen the cuts on his hands. So he had to control himself. The last thing he wanted to do what blow up in a public place. He didn’t want to blow up period.
Part of him wanted to stand up and walk out, especially when his girlfriend admitted to whom the other possible father could be. Rigg? Rigg Eastwood? Was Mason hearing right? He already despised the underclassman for dating his ex girlfriend, now he added on impregnating his current girlfriend? Who would stoop so low? But that had to of meant Rigg cheated on Jenna. Another reason to hate the kid. “Of all people…why him?” Mason shook his head before covering his face with his hands. A deep sigh escaped from his lips as he caught the last part of her sentence. He didn’t want to leave Emily. She was everything he needed at the moment but it seemed as though no matter how hard he tried to be happy, something always came in the way. Maybe this was a sign that they weren’t meant to be together. If the child had turned out to be Rigg’s, Mason wasn’t sure if he could handle being with her. Raising a kid that wasn’t his own seemed illogical. Could he come to terms with something like that? What if the baby did turn out to be Mason’s? Would that tie down he and Emily for life? Raising a child in a split home wasn’t something he admired either. This was all too much to comprehend at the moment.
“I wouldn’t leave you to raise a child on your own.” He assured. Her last words proved that she still had her doubts of why he was with her in the first place. Baby or not. Mason knew that the idea still bothered her whether she denied it or not. At this point, he didn’t know what he wanted anymore. He wasn’t going to make a promise he couldn’t keep. He watched as eyes turned glossy. “I'm with you because I want to be. Not because I feel obligated to.” And he meant without the baby as a factor. He was straying off topic but he had to call her out. Mason wasn’t sure how many times they had to go threw this before she realized how much he truly cared about her. How much he loved her. “This…this is a lot to take in right now. I think I should take you home.” He wanted to end the conversation before things got any worse.

Emily knew that Mason was upset and he had every right to be. The entire expanse of their relationship, Emily had tried to push Mason away. Never was it because she didn’t want him, but it was because he deserved more than she would be able to offer him. Emily had never though much of herself having worth. When she was younger, her father would come into her room in the middle of the night. He would run his fingers across her soft, five year old skin and he would breathe on her neck while covering her mouth so she wouldn’t scream. Then, when she got old enough to harm him physically, he stopped touching her and started paying her off with clothes and cars and anything she wanted. When she turned fifteen, the first boy that she had feelings for forced himself on her and it was like reliving the first eight years of her life all over again. Every man that Emily cared for either abused her, or left her. Men just used her and tossed her aside like she was a piece of meat. Even in high school. The only reason why Emily is popular is because she throws herself at guys and screws everything that moves. Mason shouldn’t want that, he shouldn’t want someone as broken as she is. Emily was a used piece of garbage and Mason could do so much better than her. At least Jenna was a nice virgin who didn’t come with so much baggage.
It wasn’t until Mason asked why that Emily finally broke down in tears. She had been holding the tears in since the moment she realized she was pregnant. Not knowing who the father was was so frustrating that Emily hadn’t even been able to be joyful about the fact that she was having a baby. Emily loved kids and even though she knew she wouldn’t be a perfect mom, she knew that she would be able to love this baby. Hell, it was only three weeks old and she was already attached to it. Glancing up to meet Mason’s stare, Emily blinked a few tears from her vision, not wanting to make a scene. ”It’s not like I chose to get pregnant right now…” She offered, half-heartedly hoping that he would just get pissed at her and run away. Emily was trying to protect Mason and protect herself from getting hurt again.
There was no hiding the guilt that was heavy on her features as she watched Mason take in her words. Emily loved Mason more than she ever thought she could love another person and the idea of him leaving her over this almost broke her heart more than the idea that Mason may not be the father. Emily knew that Mason and his dad didn’t get along super well all the time but Emily knew Mason. She knew the real Mason that he tried to hide from people and as much as he might deny it, she knew that he would make a great father. Emily wanted the baby to be Mason’s. She wanted him to love her for her but she couldn’t deny that secretly, she knew that if she had this baby and it belonged to Mason, she would always have a piece of him. Just like she had his shirt. And his picture.
Emily was thinking about telling Mason how stupid she was for going to the party and sleeping with Rigg and how guilty she felt and how much she wished she could have taken it back when he spoke again. Hearing him commit to not leaving her with their baby made her cry even harder. Trying to steady her nerves so that she wouldn’t start to full on bawl in the middle of the restaurant, Emily slid her had across the table and reached for him. She knew he didn’t want to touch her but she needed that reassurance. She needed to know that she wasn’t losing him. His next words hit her hard, though. The night at the club when Mason hit the mirror, Emily released her fear of Jenna. His words were reassuring but she wasn’t worried about that now. If he decided to be with Jenna it would be because she deserved him more than Emily did.
Not sure what to say, Emily just nodded when he suggested they leave but she remained seated. Her thoughts were still on Jenna and the idea of Mason leaving her and her baby to go back to Jenna. It broke her heart and she realized that she didn’t trust Mason. She didn’t trust him enough to believe that he loved her and wanted to truly be with her. ”I’m sorry..” She repeated, her words a small mumble that were interrupted by tears. ”I didn’t want this to happen and I didn’t mean to make it sound like I didn’t think you were with me because you wanted to but I just don’t trust that you would stay around if it ended up being Rigg’s. And I….I don’t know what I would do if I lost you right now. I need you…I need you to not give up on me right now…I..I need..” She was on the edge of hysterics and her hand continued to reach for his, fear clouding her vision. ”Please don’t leave me.”

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Mason didn’t believe that anyone at their age would intentionally get pregnant. Minus those few who make it on the maury show and get the shock of their lives realizing how much work having a child really was. Around school he would hear girls chatting about the latest episodes of ‘sixteen and pregnant’ or ‘teen mom’ and every time he did he’d think how stupid those girls were for letting something like that happen. Mason thought avoiding the situation was easier than perceived. He was wrong. Far from wrong. Protection was something that should have come easy to him but in the heat of the moment his mind was else where. He wasn’t worrying about possibly getting Emily pregnant if he didn’t wrap up his junk. And now he realized all of those teen dads had been in the position as Mason and felt all the same mixed emotions. What preconceived notions he had about teen parents was about the window now? Staring at Emily, he couldn’t ever imagine thinking or saying things about her like he had with the reality show moms. She made a mistake but there was no going back on it. As much as the reality crushed him, Mason couldn’t find the courage to blame her.
If anyone, it was Rigg that Mason blamed the most. Going along with Emily’s sexual gestures so much that they had sex. And while he was with Jenna? What person in their right mind would do that? One could blame it on the alcohol cause he knew that was involved but there were lines that shouldn’t even be crossed. Part of him could only wonder how Jenna was taking all this. Considering the pregnancy factor was news to him, he didn’t expect her to know that. But Rigg cheating on her? Maybe she didn’t know. Hell, Mason didn’t know that Emily had sex with him. She failed to mention in between their love making sessions but at the same time she didn’t have to. They weren’t together at the time so it was really not his place to judge. But Jenna could. She had every right to judge. She had every right to be mad at Rigg and Mason hoped she was. It would ease what anger that was raging threw his body. But there were simpler things that made his frustrations disappear. At least momentarily, and that was watching his girl friend begin to cry. And not just one glistening tear. She was hurting more than he had expected. He figured he had the worst end of it all but in reality that was far from true.
Mason simply watched as Emily reached her hand across the table. He wanted to intertwine their fingers. He wanted to feel her smooth skin against his. He wanted to console and promise her that everything would turn out ok. But the shock of everything had seemed to paralyze his movement. Mason couldn’t force himself to take her hand in his. There was still a part of him that was holding back. A part of him that was still unsure of what he wanted anymore. He had suggested leaving the restaurant all together. At least then they would be alone to sort out things but neither of them budged. It was Emily that broke the silence again. First with an apology and then an explanation for everything she had been feeling but yet to say. Mason knew she doubted him but he never considered what he’d actually do if the baby turned out to be Rigg’s. What if he and Emily wanted to raise the baby together so that the childs parents weren’t separated? He simply couldn’t fathom that thought; Rigg being the father or him losing Emily. Two things that Mason didn’t want to happen. He felt his face heat up and emotions soar through his body as her words spilled out. The tears added a dramatic effect and with that there was no more holding back. Mason stood from his seat and stepped a few feet until he was next to her. He pulled her from the chair and into his arms. Maybe he couldn’t say the right words to make her feel better but he knew that his actions. As long as they were the right ones.
He didn’t care about the onlookers as he held her tight. Everything in his nature told Mason to do everything in his power to make her feel happy again. Seeing her like this only brought him down. It made him feel guilty for the way he reacted but he could think of no other way. There was a high chance he was about to be a father in nine months. Being eighteen and still in high school, it was a big deal. “Let’s get out of here.” Mason whispered in her ear before kissing her forehead softly. He took her hand and let her threw the building and out the same doors they entered no more than twenty minutes ago.

Apparently, birth control didn’t work for Emily. She had been on the pill every single day since she turned fifteen and now she was in this situation. Wasn’t birth control supposed to prevent you from getting pregnant? A combination of anger, frustration and sadness built inside of Emily as her fingers rubbed the skin of her stomach through her shirt. Why had she allowed this to happen and why hadn’t she just taken care of it and never told anyone? Emily knew that technically Mason would be out of bounds to be upset about Emily having sex with Rigg before her and Mason started dating, but Emily hoped that he was unhappy about it. As much as Emily fought with Mason about the situation and about dating and being an official ‘couple’, Emily had dedicated herself to him the first night that they slept together and knowing how strongly she felt about him from the get go, she should have never allowed things to go so far with Rigg.
When Mason didn’t accept Emily’s hand, she balled her fist and fought to hold back the tears. Emily wanted to scream. She wanted to scream and break all the glass in the building by throwing it against the brick wall. Mason didn’t want her anymore. She had hurt him and now she wanted nothing to do with her. Just the idea of Mason not being there stemmed so much emotion that Emily’s head started pounding with equal force as the pound of chained blood in her chest. Emily was losing Mason and he was so angry with her that he wouldn’t even touch her. Emily tried to say everything that she was feeling but she was still so confused. Mason might be the father, but Emily was definitely the mother and unlike Mason, she didn’t have the option to bail. Yeah, she could abort the fetus or give the child up for adoption once it was born but neither of these were feasible options for Emily.
Emily had no idea what being pregnant would feel like or how quickly she would get attached to both the baby and the idea of being a mother. Her entire life, all Emily wanted was to find someone who she could love that would love her back. Mason came along and filled that void pretty well but it would be different with this child. This baby would rely on Emily and it would need her to love it. She knew she could do this. Emily knew that she could love this baby but that’s was all she knew. Everything else was just going to have to happen in its own time and hopefully, Mason would be the father and him and Emily could figure everything out.
Rejection was soaring through her nerves as she retracted her hand from the table and rested it in her lap. By his action and for the first time since Emily met Mason, Emily felt like Mason didn’t love her and her heart broke. The tears intensified and she covered her face with her hands to hide the hysterical cries that were trying to escape her lips. Emily felt like her heart was crumbling in her chest and sending stinging pains all throughout her body. Emily needed Mason…she needed him to love her. Squeezing her eyes shut, Emily didn’t hear the chair move and didn’t even know that mason had stood up until she felt his warm hands pulling on her arms. She wanted to fight him and tell him to go be with Jenna since he obviously loved her more but she didn’t have the strength and when he wrapped his arms securely around him, Emily melted and the crying intensified.
Clinging to his body, Emily buried her head in his chest. How had they gotten in such a mess? They were both so young and so unprepared for this and by now, Emily wasn’t even thinking about Rigg possibly being the father. Surely making love to Mason almost every other night for a few months would trump and possibility of one drunken night at a party with Rigg. Rigg couldn’t be the father because Emily didn’t love him, she didn’t even like him. Mason had made Emily believe in the idea of love stronger than she could ever have believed in it before and the idea of them not sharing the connection of a baby broke her heart even more.
Emily was still clinging on to Mason shirt when he pulled away. Her crying had subsided a little as she looked up into his eyes. Emily hoped that Mason could really see how much this hurt and how badly the guilt was eating her up inside. The slight pressure of his lips on her forehead brought another round of tears and knowing that she wouldn’t be able to speak, she nodded at his suggestion and took his hand. As they passed the hostess, Emily clung to Mason a little tighter but avoided eye contact with the attractive blonde. Emily’s cheeks were pink and flushed and her eyes were red and glossy. All the makeup she had put on had now been washed away and as she got into the car, she felt ugly, too. How was it that no matter what she did, she still wasn’t good enough for Mason?

For someone his age, wanting that type of responsibility shouldn’t have even been an idea swimming through their minds. But when he thought about all the goals he had made for himself, ones that paved the pathway throughout his life, Mason hadn’t considered kids. He assumed eventually, down the road, when he was older and had a stable career, he would find some lucky lady that he could call his wife and start a family with. Still, the adolescent side of him couldn’t even fathom that thought. Who said he would find a permanent job? What if his future turned out be a middle aged man still living with his parents? Not to say he would have wanted that. Mason couldn’t stand living with them right now as it was. But he didn’t know what his life story would turn out to be like. Which was why he never took the time to think about it. What was the point of planning when most of the time things never went his way. Or how he wanted them to.
Today would be a prime example. Starting off in the morning, Mason presumed that the simple of event of taking his girl friend out on a date would be all that happened. His idea was to make the day perfect. To make their relationship status permanent but they had barely sat down long enough to look over the lunch menu before he had been bombarded with unpredicted news. He may not have wanted to be a father. Hell, he wasn’t even ready to be one but if the child happened to be his, there was no turning back. Mason could only imagine the reactions of his parents. Disappointment, yes. Shocked, most definitely. But supportive as well. It would take some time for them to accept the fact, just as it would Mason, but they would be there to help either way. He knew his father would be reluctant and stubborn. This would give him more of a reason to bitch at his son. But his mother would be nurturing. She’d easily get over the news and jump into mommy mode. And Mason knew that his mother would take Emily under her wing without hesitation. But all the ideas of what would happen if he was the father were premature thoughts. He couldn’t let himself get attached to the idea already because there was a fifty percent change the baby wasn’t his.
It was extremely difficult for Mason to get over that tiny…take that back, really large factor. Despite knowing that he and Emily had just begun their relationship, it was now hanging by a thread. Breaking them up over this had to have been Emily’s worst fear. How could one lose something so fast? If the baby turned out to be Rigg’s, Mason wasn’t sure if he could handle still being with her. To say in the relationship, be in her life and that of a child’s that wasn’t even his was a low blow. Maybe it was something adults could handle. Especially when they remarried to someone who already had children. Legally they would be accepting those kids into their lives but they weren’t biologically related. It was a messy situation that Mason didn’t want to throw himself into. He had grown up with parents who stayed happily married. He didn’t know what it was like to live in a screwed up household until his brother passed away. Even then, threw emotional despair his parents remained together. He wanted that type of relationship in his future. He wanted to have kids that were actually his. Mas was afraid of how he would react in three weeks if the DNA results came in and the half the alleles didn’t match to his own. It would be heart breaking. But that would be three weeks from now. He couldn’t get ahead of himself. Especially when Emily needed him the most right now.
He allowed her to release all of the emotions that had overcome her nervous system. Mason held her tight to his chest until her sobbing had simmered. It was then did he take the opportunity to escape the wandering eyes of the public. If he didn’t know him they had no right to be in their business and the last thing he wanted was to be approached by some stranger asking if everything was alight. Mas led Emily out of the restaurant, completely ignoring the confused face of the hostess that had picked out their table. After Em settled back into his car, he took the seat next to her and started driving. “Do you want to go back to your place?” He asked, keeping his eyes on the road. The roads he began to take weren’t really ones that led to her apartment anyways. He waited to see if there was any other place she desired to go instead. At this point, Mason felt he could drive for days and not care where he ended up. As much as he hated automobiles the body frame that kept them safely inside eased his senses. His own personal barrier had been broken, easily allowing anything foreign to attach his emotions. But he needed some type of protection, even if it meant turning to the very thing that couldn’t protect his brother.

Closing her eyes, Emily continued to cling to Mason. It was guilt more than anything else that was puling at the strings of her heart. Emily knew that she was not the only person affected by this situation and not knowing whether the baby belonged to Mason or Rigg was eating away at her. Emily wanted the baby to be Mason’s. It wasn’t that Emily didn’t think that Rigg would make a good father but more so the simple fact that Emily had no idea who he was. One drunken night at a party out of spite was not the story she wanted to tell her child when asked about conception.
Sex had always been different with Mason. For Emily, her and Mason had never just had sex together. They shared passion and patience and love and there was no way to express the level of bliss that Emily felt when she was able to wake up to Mason’s warm body next to her. How would that change with a baby? If the child belonged to Rigg, Emily knew that he would want to be a part of its life and she wouldn’t be able to deny him of that. Emily didn’t know Rigg well enough to know if he was a person that she could really ever get along with, let alone live with, and that thought in itself scared her. How could she have been so stupid to sleep with him? The only reason why Emily and Rigg had sex was so that Emily could get back at Jenna but in the end, that plan backfired on her tenfold and reminded Emily of just how stupid she was to have ever gone after the girl.
A small smile made its way across Emily’s tear stained face as she imagined the baby belonging to Mason. Mason would make a great father. Emily hadn’t been officially dating Mason long but she knew him well enough to the type of person that he truly was. Both Mason and Emily were afraid of the baby idea, but if Emily was going to have a baby with anyone at age eighteen, she would have chosen Mason. He was gentle and kind and soft spoken and the more she thought about him and her having a baby together, the less afraid she was of the idea. If the baby was Mason’s, there was no doubt in Emily’s mind that her and Mason wouldn’t be able to get through this together. Emily loved Mason and love was supposed to be the strongest force out there, at least that was what her mother had always told her.
Following him into the car, Emily pressed her face against the glass of the window as he began to drive. There were so many things that she wanted to say to him and so many explanations that she felt like she owed him but the crying had exhausted her. How could she justify to her boyfriend why it was okay for her to sleep with Rigg in hopes of getting back at Jenna? It didn’t matter that Mason and Emily weren’t official at the time because they were already together and she already loved him. Hearing his question, Emily shook her head and released a heavy sigh. Emily didn’t want to go home unless Mason was coming with her but with the way that the evening was unfolding, Emily was afraid that if she asked him to take her home, he wouldn’t be joining her. ”Let’s just drive away from this town and away from this problem and just go be you and I again.” Saying the words out loud brought on another small wave of tears and as much as Sophie tried to settle them, it was a good ten minutes before she could speak again.
Turning to face him, Emily felt that same level of guilt wash over her as it did when she first watched his reaction. ”I’m sorry.” She whispered again in a barely audible voice. Aching to touch him, she covered his hand with hers and brought it to her lips. Her movements were lethargic and soft but as she kissed each one of his busted knuckles, she just wished that they could have planned all of this out more. She wished that they were older and more dedicated to each other and more prepared for a baby. Emily closed her eyes and pressed her cheek against his hand as they drove. Emily wasn’t sure where they were going and she didn’t care as long as they didn’t have to fight. She needed Mason to love her and be supportive of her right now and fighting just wasn’t productive by any means. Maybe Emily didn’t need to apologize for sleeping with the wrong person before they started dating but she did need to apologize for the emotional drama that she was currently putting Mason through. He didn’t deserve to feel this way and as attached as Emily was growing to the idea of the baby being Mason’s, she really hoped that it was. They could do this parenting thing together.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mason was so scatter brained at the moment, he wasn’t really sure how to start any conversation with Emily. He had just been informed that he could possibly be the father of the fetus inside his girl friends body. There was no coming back from that and certainly no moving on from it. He loved Em, more than anyone he had ever been with. She was the only person that could fish the true Mason from the deep hole of guilt he had dug himself into. He was good at lying, so hiding his emotion despair from his parents was easy. Not to mention their own grief masked their vision to see anything but. Everyone else at school had no recollection of Mason’s past. They had no idea what traumatic events had occurred in his life which made them the easiest to lie to. He had created someone fake. Someone that no one in his new school would ever doubt. He pretended to be the jock. The guy that everyone knew but liked at the same time. That one kid that went to all the parties but couldn’t recall anything that had taken place. Mason appeared to be a typical teenage boy but he was far from that and only Emily knew. Only she knew what real pain he was in and at the same time she could make it all go away.
He glanced at her as she responded to his question. For some reason he had assumed she wouldn’t want to go home and he was right. “This problem..won’t just go away like that.” He retorted. Maybe it wasn’t the best thing to say but it was the truth. Just saying the word “problem” made it seem so wrong. It was like saying that the child that was just beginning to form in her stomach was a “mistake”. Mason had a friend back in Jersey who came from a split family; the mother having been seventeen and the father twenty when his friend was born. Guys normally shared few feelings with their buddies but this one particular guy trusted Mason enough to admit the hard times. What he remembered most was the kid being so torn up from the mother claiming that her son was a mistake. Like she had wished none of it ever happen, especially him being born. What she had said was like a father telling his child he was “disappointed”. The words sunk deep and made the person feel completely horrible. Mason didn’t want to think of their situation as a problem. The last thing he would want was his child to believe they were a mistake. Yes, it was bad timing but there was no fixing it. They had to accept the fact and deal with it. He knew that if the baby was his then he and Emily would work threw the issues. He hoped, in the end, everything would turn out to be ok.
Mason didn’t want to go home either, especially back to his own place. Just seeing his parents, knowing that they had no idea what was going on, it would kill him. At the moment, he was still emotionally compromised and was afraid he’d spill the beans if they had confronted him in any way. He wasn’t even sure if the news was worth telling them. He wouldn’t know for three weeks. Mason knew he was in for a rollercoaster ride. “Don’t be.” He glanced over at her as he allowed his hand to be taken from the wheel. He wasn’t going to reject her like he had in the restaurant. In fairness, he had been in complete shock and had little control over his actions or words. Mas was still afraid to say the wrong thing, which was why he kept silent. What was he suppose to say? Changing the subject wasn’t that simple but neither was talking about it. He continued to steer the car into random directions, still not sure of where he was headed. They had chosen no specific place and he simply just wanted to by some time so his emotional state would simmer down. But he couldn’t drive forever, especially with all the traffic that accumulated in the streets of New York. Eventually Mason went for his gut instinct and stopped once they reached Central Park. “Let’s take a walk.” He parked the car and offered a hand to Emily, wondering if she would even accept it.

Emily nodded softly as he spoke.”I know..” She knew this problem wouldn’t go away unless she forced it too and she just didn’t have the heart for that. Someone as unattached as Emily liked to vision herself as being, it hadn’t taken any time at all for her to form an attachment to the child in her womb and only a tiny bit longer to grow attached to Mason. Two attachments was too much for this girl, they ran too high of a risk but there was no way Emily could give up this baby. If she got the paternity test performed and the baby turned out to be Rigg’s, a large part of her would feel more inclined towards aborting it but she knew that wouldn’t happen. This was her child. It didn’t matter if the father turned out to be Mason or Rigg because she was the mother and she would still be that with or without a father.
Realizing that there were plenty of women who raised children on their own gave Emily a slight wave of comfort. Financial security would never be a problem and her mother would be a very active part of the baby’s life. That is, once Emily grew the courage to tell her family. Emily’s mother had always known that Emily was promiscuous and flirtatious and went through boys quickly but when Emily had told her mother about Mason and how incredibly good he made her feel, her mother had commented about how great it was that Emily was finally serious about someone. Hearing that Em was pregnant and that Mason might not be the father was going to crush Emily’s mom almost as much as it crushed Emily.
Emily had always wanted children. Though she wore the rebellious, careless, detached façade, secretly all she ever wanted was to find someone who could love her through all of her perfections. Get married, buy a house with a white picket fence, and make babies. Teach them, love them, help them grow and then move on to grandchildren and great grandchildren. Emily always wanted that ‘normal’ life but knew that she want ready for it emotionally and that’s why she partied and drank and slept around. Being eighteen and pregnant was never on her list of things to do but being pregnant also never deterred her from that dream of settling down. She dreamed of family camping trips and birthday parties and holidays at home as a big family. Not just her and her child with no father and no stability.
Grasping his hand a little tighter against her cheek, soft tears began to fall silently across his knuckles. Her eyes fluttered closed and all she was wishing was to be in his arms, happy, and secure in the fact that he wouldn’t leave her. Jenna was still an active thought in Emily’s mind and as much as she tried to convince herself that Mason was serious when he talked about him being happy with Emily, a part of her would always think that he would have been happier with Jenna. It wasn’t that Jenna was perfect but Jenna was able to offer Mason a stronger emotional foundation than Emily could. Her foundation was battered and molested and so entirely tampered with that she truthfully wasn’t even sure what she could offer Mason, especially if she had to channel her emotions at this baby, too.
It wasn’t until Emily felt the slight jolt of the car stopping that she opened her eyes to see the luscious landline of Central Park through the windshield. Releasing Mason’s hand and wiping her eyes, she sucked in a deep breath. He was asking her to walk with him and even though she liked the idea, she had to fight her body to move. Turning her body, she accepted Mason’s hand and lifted her body out of the car. After closing the door, Emily turned to face him. Her cheeks were stained with tears and she felt defeated. Stepping towards him, she slowly brushed her fingers against his cheek and offered him a soft smile. She wanted to speak and tell him that she loved him that she wanted to get through this with him and that everything was going to be okay because her love for him was going to be stronger than all of this, but she just couldn’t speak. Wrapping his arms around him, she buried herself in his shoulder. ”I love you, Mason.” It might not have been what he wanted to hear but it was the only thing she could say. It was the only thing that she knew for certain.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Possibilities circulated through Mason’s mind. Would this baby turn out to be his? Would they end up together and raise the baby as a family? Would this ruin his future? There were so many ways that the whole situation could end up being but all zeroed in on one tiny factor; Emily was pregnant. Whether it be his, Mason’s girlfriend was carrying a forming human being in her stomach. He wasn’t quite sure how to respond. Since the moment she told him back at the restaurant, he had been at a loss for words. Adrenaline impulses sent negative thoughts into his head. There were things he could say. Words that may have been unkind and untrue. Ones that would only spill out due to his anger and frustration but Mason couldn’t allow the ugly side to take over. Even if he wanted to be mad at Emily for this, even if this was all partially her fault, he couldn’t bear to take it out on her. In the end, no matter what he thought, all necessary actions came down to Emily. Mas wasn’t sure if he wanted a child but he sure as hell didn’t want to give it up. He wasn’t big on religious beliefs, despite his die hard Christian mother but abortion was something he would never accept. No matter was religion he conformed into. He wasn’t a women and he didn’t understand the physical side of it. And maybe the emotional side was a bit more spiked for the female race but even as he sat next to Emily, Mason could feel a connection forming with the unborn child. In his eyes, there was no other choice other than to have the baby.
His knuckled clenched within hers as she caressed his hand. He was able to control his breathing in a more comforting and steady pace. Mason should have taken Emily home. He should have been completely angry with her. He should have been rethinking their whole relationship. Any other guy would. He couldn’t imagine many other guys his age wanting to jump into a situation like this. In Mason’s case, he was stuck in the middle of it. Any other guy probably would have limited contact with her until the DNA results came in and maybe they would try to work things out if the baby turned out to be theirs. Mason should have been that guy. It would have been understandable. He’d have logical reasons but part of him wanted to be the good guy. It was the part of him that loved and cared for Emily that kept him driving, further and further away from any place that they called home. It was that feeling he had with her that kept him by her side. If there was one time she would need him the most it was now. Mason was done with losing the ones that mattered the most to him. First it was Caleb. Then Jenna. There was no way he would let Emily escape from his grasp. Especially if she was carrying his child.
Why Mason had chosen Central Park was beyond him. It was better than going home where they could hide from their problems with ease. There had been a few occasions when the teenage boy retreated the doors and the landscaping parks of New York. It was a place where he could be by himself and think. Which helped when he was in the process of writing a song. The surroundings soothed his senses and eased his pain. His eyes were locked on Emily as she stepped out of the car. She was a wreck, he could tell by the look on her face. He brought a had to her cheek and wiped away some fresh tears. It wasn’t long after did she burry herself into his chest. Mason wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her close. It felt right having her in his arms but be that as it may, he couldn’t help but wish she hadn’t said those next words. He already knew she loved him. He also knew that women liked to over use the word but that was something he could live with. It wasn’t so much of the words that bothered him but the timing. She probably assumed it would help ease his pain but there was no healing from his wounds. At least not yet. “I know.” Was all he managed to get out. He was probably better off saying nothing at all. It wasn’t that Mason didn’t love her. In fact she had no idea how crazy he was about her but he was bruised and battered. Affection was not his strong point at the moment. He kissed the top of her forehead, hoping she would just ignore what he said. Maybe she would realize he just needed time.
