sydney had the house to herself for the weekend so instead of going all the way to the library she invited tuberose to come over to her place to study. even though most people suggested she had a party sydney really didn't want her house to be overtaken by crazy teenagers. she also didn't want her parents finding out about what happened because her father would probably blow a top. it was bad enough that she was inviting a boy over to the house but a party now that would really get her in a load of trouble. but if everything went as planned hopefully her father wouldn't know anything about what happened this weekend. all he would know is that she spent the weekend studying which wasn't a complete lie. she did do some studying and she was planning on doing more as soon as tuber made his way over here. sydney sat in her pajamas munching on cereal and watching television finally able to relax in her own house. if her father was here he would much rather her studying or doing something productive instead of sitting around watching television. once she was finished she dumped everything in the sink and went to find a change of clothes in her room. she wasn't about to answer the door in nothing but pajamas. it didn't take her long to find something to wear and she looked at herself in the mirror and ran a brush through her hair a few times until she seemed decent.

making her way up the stairs sydney walked into her studio and locked the door behind her. this was the one place that she never let anyone in even her parents understood they needed to respect her privacy. the room was covered in art work that sydney had been working on since she was a kid. most of it was undone because she lost the inspiration to finish them but she kept them for the day when she could finish. sitting down on her stool she ran a hand over the painting she was currently working on because she was entering it in a contest. so far it was turning out how she had imagined but she wasn't sure what it would look like when she finished it. grabbing her paints she had plenty of time to work on it some more before tuber got here. she turned on the music and hummed along she painted and painted. when she was starting the painting the piece she didn't really have a solid idea of what she wanted. this had to be the fourth draft of the painting because she finally decided on what she wanted. she hadn't been painting for very long but she already managed to get paint all over her hands and face. stopping she set everything down and walked towards the bathroom to get everything off her face before he got here. the last thing she wanted was to be covered in paint when he got here she was already covered in paint whenever she came from art class. her clothes just didn't matter as much when she got lost in her paintings.

checking the time sydney realized that tuberose would be here any second. going down the stairs she made her way towards the kitchen and looked for some snacks that they could eat. grabbing chips and some more snacks she went over to the living room to put them down. but as soon as she got to the living room she decided it would probably be easier to study in her room where there weren't as many distractions. humming to herself she walked to her room and dumped all the snacks onto the table. her room was one big art project in its self that she was still working on. it was covered in posters of famous art work and some work that she did herself. but she had one wall that was completely white and had nothing on it. it was the one wall that she didn't know what to do with just yet. but she barely had any space left on her other walls so she was going to have to find out soon. spotting her backpack in the corner she pulled it over to where she was. she looked through her backpack and found a couple of books to help them study. setting the books on the table also she looked around and wondered what else they would need. a light as up in her head as she plugged her ipod into the stereo and played some music but kept it at a low level so she'd be able to hear the doorbell ringing.

Tuberose skipped down the road with a grin on his face. Not one of those obviously gay skips that just screamed 'homosexual!', or the kind that little school girls do at recess in the first grade. No, Tuberose's skipping was just about as hardcore as it can get. Or, at least that was what he liked to believe as he made his way down the residential side of Manhattan. His backpack hit against his back with every jump, but Tuberose didn't really mind. After all, it wasn't as if it were too heavy or anything. The only things he had bothered putting in the bag before making his way to Sydney's house were a few crumpled worksheets from class that he guessed they were going to work on, and a chewed on pencil or two. That was what much of his school supplies looked liked these days. Crumpled, broken, or in some state of desperate disrepair. School was just something that he didn't care about, and the same went for all the ridiculous supplies that enabled such education.

But he was failing the majority of his classes and he did NOT want to have to repeat ANOTHER year of school. Two freshman years had been enough for this kid, Tuberose thought as he stopped skipping abruptly. It had almost been a little fun because he had gotten to go to school with both classes of students. . . but it had also resembled hell in how boring it had been. But that was just what school was---one big boring waste of life---and Tuberose had come to accept that over the years. That didn't mean that he wanted to repeat his sophomore year again. If he didn't watch out, he'd become the creepy forty year old man in the back of the classroom who drools on himself and can't count to fifty. So that was why he was going to Sydney Clarke's house to work on stupid homework over the weekend.

Tuberose was happy, though, that Syd had agreed to help him. He could use all the help he could get. Sure, he didn't really plan on working that hard, and he hoped that she realized that also. It wasn't that he didn't want to do his work---okay, maybe it was---but it was also that he just couldn't manage to pay any attention to it. I mean, come on, he was failing Art Appreciation! How was he supposed to 'appreciate art'? Tuberose guessed it was pretty and all. . . but you can only stare at swirling lines and creepy shapes for so long without dying of boredom. He liked the bright neon pictures well enough, but when the teacher had assigned them a boatload of work on some dead artist who was completely and insanely dull, Tuberose had just about lost it. It frustrated him that the school board couldn't take pity on the sad little students with poor attention spans.

Walking in the middle of the road, Tuberose's head whipped from side to side looking for Sydney's house. He wasn't very good with directions. . . and he hoped he hadn't accidentally gotten himself lost. Hell, Tuberose could manage to get lost in his own bedroom, let alone the whole of Manhattan. But that was okay, because he had all the time in the world. Or, you know a few minutes before Syd probably began to think he had ditched. Remembering a time back at New York City, Tuberose grinned at the memory of being completely lost for five hours one night. He had been coming back from some strange party, and it didn't help that he had been completely wasted, and had wandered around his neighborhood for what seemed like ages. When he finally found his house it was five o'clock in the morning and he had realized that the entire time he had been on the right street. What was the moral of this story? To never expect Tuberose on time and in a proper state of mind.

That was why he was so amazed when he thought he saw Sydney's house. It looked like hers, it was on the same road as hers, and Tuberose was pretty sure that it smelled like hers, although he wasn't quite sure what her house smelled like in the first place. Running the rest of the distance there, Tuberose was out of breath when he arrived at the front door. Swiping his hair away from his forehead, Tuberose stared at the door as if it were going to magically open before him with a goofy grin plastered over his face. Looking down at his watch to check the time Tuberose remembered that he wasn't wearing one. Smacking a hand against his forehead quickly, he wondered if he was late. There was only one way to find out. . .

Knocking on the door rapidly with his fist, Tuberose started jumping in place giddily. He was just so excited! If he hadn't have made plans with Sydney for today, Tuberose knew he most likely would have been sitting at home doing something weird and random or he would have been wreaking havoc around town. And no one wanted that to happen for sure. Knocking louder, Tuberose couldn't wait to see his friend. "Open this damn door, Sydney! Don't make me employ my army of a thousand llamas to tear it down!" He shouted as he rang the doorbell repeatedly over and over again, smiling and waiting for her to let him in.

sydney's heart took a leap when she heard someone knocking on the door so loudly. she had been expecting the doorbell not someone to practically attack her door. smiling for a moment sydney shook her head this was the type of thing she should expect from tuberose. he was always a ball of energy and it was hard to contain him. walking towards the door he just continued to knock even though she could probably have heard him from down the street. sydney was really glad that her parents hadn't been home, she wasn't sure how they would react to tuberose. her dad probably wouldn't have liked the fact that he had to repeat a year that was for sure. he was the type of man who thought education was most important so that you could find a successful job in the future. her father wasn't the type of guy to appreciate people who didn't go with what he thought was right. it was hard living with him sometimes but sydney knew that he just wanted the best for her. finally reaching the door she heard tuberose yelling for her through the door as he continued to knock and ring her doorbell. sydney opened the door slowly and stuck her head out and looked around. where are all the llamas? she asked him curiously trying to keep a confused look on her face. as far as she could see he had no army to tear down her door and if she wanted she could just close the door on him and nothing would happen.

sydney decided she may as well let him in before the neighbors wondered what kind of person she was letting into her house. opening the door she waved a hand and motioned for him to get in. once he was in sydney closed the door behind her and locked it not wanting anyone else finding their way into her house. the one thing about staying home along which kind of creeped sydney out would have to be being home at night by herself. her house just seemed to make so much more noise when nobody else was around. sydney kept a baseball bat next to her bed just in case she would ever need it. all she knew was that if someone was there she was swinging first and asking questions later. sydney was rather proud of being able to protect herself and thinking of the idea. her father wanted to have someone there staying with her but she was able to convince him other wise. the only person she would probably want to stay over would have to be her aunt because whenever she was around they always had fun together. she doubted that her father would trust her in the house without him watching though. she'd probably take sydney out to some random club because the band that was playing was good. her aunt jenny was the person sydney hoped to be like when she grew up. she was free as a bird and did whatever she felt like when she felt like. she lived life to the fullest and didn't care what anyone else thought of her.

grabbing tuberose's arm she dragged him through the house and into her room. she didn't want him getting distracted by random things in her house. and she definitely didn't want him touching her dads things or she would be dead. humming to herself she took a seat on the floor near the small table where all her books and worksheets were set out. so if you want to pass we're actually going to have to do work she told him with an amused look on her face. she knew that he wasn't the type to finish his work and hopefully she would be able to help him get everything done. art appreciation was a class that sydney was acing because she really enjoyed what they were learning. he also needed to make sure he passed this class so he would be able to graduate.

"I don't just have any normal llama's. No. They're ninja superhero llamas and they're in hiding. So you can't see them," Tuberose said with a grin as he made his way through the door merrily. He knew his threat would work! Who wasn't afraid of the evil forces of llamas? Maybe Tuberose was over exaggerating a little bit as he stepped into the house, but not to worry. All thoughts of South American camelids were soon forgotten when he took a big eyed glance around the room he had walked into. Tuberose was barely able to utter an exited "ooohhh" before Sydney latched onto his elbow. Taking in the room with eager eyes, Tuberose felt the desperate urge to explore. He couldn't believe all the strange things in her house! Like the couch over there, and that t.v. and---but Sydney was already ushering him away from all the amazing, and he realized not-so-foreign, things. "Ah Syd!" he whined like a sad little puppy, even giving her the puppy dog face when she looked at him. "I swear I wasn't going to hurt nothing!" Of course, Tuberose's promises can't really be trusted. It wasn't that he tried to break things. . . it just happened sometimes. On accident, of course.

When they got to Sydney's room, Tuberose looked around with his mouth wide open. It was so interesting. Just looking at the walls, Tuberose could feel himself getting a headache. But not a bad one, just one that was caused by extreme stimulation. There were so many different pictures and colors and images and---Tuberose was near explosion when he heard Sydney's voice. "Work? Mmmm. Or we could thumb wrestle!" Tuberose whispered dramatically, lifting his thumb up with even more flair. However, he didn't want to wait for the disapproving glare that he knew would be coming next (or at least that was the response most people gave him in these type situations) so he plopped himself down next to Sydney instead. Flailing around for a moment, Tuberose was eventually successful in getting his backpack off from his shoulders. Unzipping the little froggy's face that was almost sort of creepy in a way, Tuberose turned it upside down and dumped out all it's contents before him on the ground. "Let's see," he mumbled as he ran a hand through all the junk on the floor. "We've got three torn worksheets, two extremely chewed up pencils," Tuberose eyed the poor writing utensil incredulously, his eyebrow raised and everything. When he accidentally broke one of them in half, Tuberose gave up on the pencils. "Well that won't help much. Oh, and this stick of gum!" It was his favorite too. Looking at it, however, he realized it was probably more than three weeks old. The first good decision he had most likely made in that same amount of time, Tuberose left it alone.

Grinning, Tuberose looked at Sydney. Then, with an almost guilty look on his face, he looked down at his worksheets. One of them was completely missing it's left top corner (who knew what had happened to it?) and another one was crumpled beyond repair. The third one was almost in decent shape, for a surprise. Too bad they were a few days late and he probably wouldn't get any credit for them anyway. "I know you like art and stuff, honey, but this class has got to be the most boring method of wasting my time ever! I mean, if I really wanted to waste my time, I could go fishing or something. At least I'd have the chance of being swallowed by a giant fish or being attacked by some senile man. But Art Appreciation?!" Throwing his hands up in the air, Tuberose just didn't get it. How could someone actually care who did what when and why a damn painting was so important in the first place? "Some art is pretty and all---like yours!---but some is just a little strange. . ."

Tuberose stood up suddenly, his eyes beaming with a light that most likely spelled trouble. He looked to his left and then to his right in a suspicious manner. "So---we're alone right?" He wriggled his eyebrows before shrugging his shoulders, his expression changing from 'provocative' to a confused one. "How'd you manage to pull that one? I thought daddy was all like grrrr," Tuberose growled, his best attempt at imitating a bear. Sometimes he was so glad he had the parents that he had. They could care less about what he did, and in fact they did. After all, they had sent him away to Manhattan all alone to attend the Belmont Academy. He lived by himself in a small apartment a mile or two away from the school that was within walking distance. Sometimes it got lonely, or, more like all the time it did. That was why Tuberose was always walking around town or spazzing out down the street on a normal basis. The kid just couldn't stand being alone for more than thirty minutes.

she looked back to notice him staring at everything around him. it was just like tuberose to be easily distracted by what surrounded him. that was probably the reason he wasn't doing so well in art appreciation he was too busy staring off into space. sydney was glad she thought of getting him out of the distracting area as soon as possible. now at least she would have less distractions for him in her room and he would be in a confined space where she could keep her eyes on him at all times. sydney turned once more as he attempted to give her the puppy dog eyes. unfortunately for him sydney was immune and there was no way she was going to let him ruin her house. well just to be safe you're staying in my room she told him wagging her little finger in his face. even though he might not mean to break anything there was no way she could be sure that it wouldn't happen. it just felt much easier for her to not take the risk.

sydney watched tuberose look around her room, she was pretty sure this was the only time a boy had ever set foot in there. her father never allowed boys over and rarely let her girl friends over. he just wasn't a fan of friends that would distract her from her work. the only times she had friends over had to be when they were working on a project together and they absolutely needed each other to finish. as long as they were doing something school related he as fine with it. if only he realized how many projects she made up over the years so that she would be able to go out with her friends. she wasn't sure how tuberose would react to her room but hopefully he wouldn't find too much in here to distract him. looking around sydney was sure she hid most of the things that he would be attracted too. we could…but your thumbs are much bigger so it wouldn't be fair she told him looking at her small hands and back to his. everything about sydney was small she only stood about around five three. she was so close to average height but she just couldn't reach it. sydney was still hoping for that growth spurt which would help her catch up to everyone else. being around tuberose didn't help much considering he was a good seven inches taller than she was. that just made her look even smaller to everyone else who happened to be around. he took a seat next to her and started to unzip his backpack. sydney couldn't help but smile at how adorable his little backpack was! but she had to keep calm or the both of them would be too distracted to get any work done.

bitting her lip she kept silent as he dumped everything he had on her floor. fortunately he didn't have too much in his bag and she wouldn't be scrambling around to clean everything up. sydney crossed her legs as she watched him go through everything he had. she rolled her eyes when he brought out three of the worksheets that he happened to have torn. it was just like him to not take care of the things that he needed to graduate. i have extra copies you can use she told him with a small smile. the copies were in the next room so sydney stood up and walked to the door. she paused and turned around giving him a suspicious look. don't touch anything she told him knowing that he would probably have his hands all over everything. even though she was only going to be gone for a few moments she wasn't sure how long he needed to mess with everything. going to the next room she shuffled through the papers on the desk until she found the three that he needed. once she had everything sydney rushed over to the room and opened the door. looking around everything still seemed to be in shape. she went back and took a seat next to him and set down the papers in front of him. sydney had already finished almost all of the work she would need for this semester. but she had made sure that she got extra copies of worksheets from the teacher the day before in case tuberose forgot anything. sydney always like to be prepared for any situation that she may come upon. that was probably one of the best things her father drilled into her.

what would you do without me? sydney asked him with a grin as she gestured to the papers on the table. without her she was sure that tuberose would just go along with his normal day and not bother doing any of the work that he had. well even if you don't like the class you need to graduate she told him sternly. there was no way she was going to let him repeat yet another year of high school. the sudden change in his expression worried sydney. how could he go from too bored to do work to excited about something. my parent's are gone for the weekend sydney explained to him with a shrug. and if my dad found out you were here, we'd both be dead she added giving him a look saying he shouldn't mess with anything. hopefully tuberose knowing they were both alone wouldn't change his idea to at least try to do some work while he was here. there was no way sydney was just going to give him the answers she wanted him to hopefully understand why this class was so interesting to her. it was probably because sydney was an artist and she understood how much art meant to the person who created it.

Tuberose frowned for only a moment when Sydney stated that she had extra copies. What were wrong with his? Looking down at them once more, Tuberose found his frown turning into something that resembled a grin. Sure, they were a little rough around the edges and a few chunks were missing. . . But Tuberose thought they were in decent condition. Compared to some of his other papers they looked like a little piece of heaven! Surprisingly, though, his apartment wasn't as bad as everyone would think. It was generally clean for the most part, and he even made his bed every morning. That was only because Tuberose liked to keep his rooms in top condition; he was like a dog and couldn't stand his living space in a mess. However, that didn't stop him from not giving a second thought to his locker and papers at school. When she told him not to touch anything, Tuberose looked up at her with an angelic grin. Why would she suspect such a thing?! Oh yeah---it was Tuberose she was talking to. "Scouts honor! Only I'm not a scout, and I don't know the funky little hand motion they make with it. . ." Tuberose trailed off as she left the room, still playing around with his fingers in an attempt to make the boyscout signal. It was to no avail, and Tuberose eventually gave up. His parents had never cared much about that type of things, such as survival and male bonding. Boy scouts had been some stupid bunch of rowdy kids in their opinion, so Tuberose had been kept away from those activities. Maybe that was why he had turned out how he had. . . Who knew?

Looking around the room, Tuberose blinked rapidly. He desperately wanted to go and touch EVERYTHING! and only because Syd had told him not to. Tuberose was like one of the most annoying children ever, but as he clenched his fist shut and closed his eyes, he tried to be good. If some one were to look at him at this moment, it might seem that he were in pain. Which, in a way, Tuberose was. For someone like him to not touch and explore and meddle was a very hard task to accomplish. Luckily, when he heard Sydney's footsteps approaching the door he opened his eyes and smiled. "You're back! I missed you terribly!" But when she spoke, Tuberose put on his best 'manly' voice, which was about two octaves lower. "I would have been just fine without you," he growled in his fake low voice before erupting into his normal giggles. "And they're not that bad. . ." he said sheepishly, glancing at the brand new papers in Syd's hands. "Since when do you collect worksheets? Is this like some strange new hobby I should now about. Or is it a fetish?" Raising an eyebrow, Tuberose smiled. Seriously. Who the hell had EXTRA worksheets lying around? What, did she do them for fun or something? Deciding not to judge Sydney for her strange ways, Tuberose just shrugged the thoughts away.

He listened absently as Sydney explained how her parents were away. Pssh, Tuberose couldn't really understand what she was saying. Why would her parents care so much? He was only Tuberose Helheim. Out of everyone in Manhattan, he was probably the least dangerous. Well, maybe not, but he was definitely better than some other kids. Sure he wasn't the most dedicated to his school work, or the most straight laced, or even the most sane. . . but he was really nice! That justified Tuberose's flawed reasoning, at least. He'd never met Sydney's parents, but they seemed quite mean to Tuberose. Anyone who was willing to kill over some silly reason such as that had to be a little . . . unstable. "Why? Is he some sort of mass murderer? Or does he have really awesome super powers? Gosh, that would be SOOO cool. Wait---is that just a hyperbole? I sure hope it is for our sakes," Tuberose trailed, thoughts of superheros and killers dashing through his mind in a frenzy like manner.

Tuberose was proud with the fact that he knew what a hyperbole was. One of the only subjects he was actually doing good in at school was in fact English. Something about the class actually made him want to pay a little attention and do his work. Surprisingly Tuberose actually liked writing papers and doing the assignments for that class. Usually he'd get them back graded and his teacher would mention how he had gone 'off topic' or how half of it didn't 'pertain to the assignment' but who really cared? Tuberose blamed his teacher; it's there fault they didn't make the guidelines more narrow! But surprisingly enough, Tuberose was managing to make a low A in that class. His other classes were another story entirely. . .

"Do you have any bubble soap around here?" he suddenly burst out with, his eyes full of excitement. "I really want to learn to make bubble creatures like on Spongebob. I have yet to master the art, but. . ." Despite Tuberoses great love he held towards blowing bubbles, he sucked at it miserably. Maybe it was because he couldn't stop himself from popping them right away. It was just so fun! Looking at Sydney, Tuberose really wanted to play with bubbles. "Owr wee culd twy peercing owr tungs!" Tuberose said with his tongue sticking out of his mouth. That would be fun, but painful. . . As long as he didn't have to actually work though, he'd do anything! Grinning like a mad man, Tuberose turned to Sydney with an expecting look on his face.

He was so glad that he had came over to her house! Sure she nagged him not to touch things, and was all bossy about doing homework, but Tuberose still loved spending time with Syd. For all the friends he had at school, most of them managed to bore him after a few minutes. It wasn't their fault, Tuberose knew. But it wasn't his either. Some people were just more boring than others, and that was no reason to condemn someone to a terrible life without him. He was just really glad that he was hanging out with Sydney rather than some other person who glared at him strangely when he opened his mouth, or yelled at him to shut up. Nope, this was much better.

you would have been fine without me? said sydney with a pretend frown as she looked away dramatically. she could hear tuberose giggling and she tried hard to pretend that she was still sad about what he had said in his macho man voice. it's a new fetish, but don't tell she said winking at him. she would just keep it to herself that she expected him to not have the best of copies. considering most of his work was late it would probably be better if he turned in neater work. sydney knew she could be pushy at times but she couldn't just stand around and not help him out.

she was surprised that he hadn't mentioned a throwing a party or anything of that nature. the second everyone else heard about her parents not being there a party was the first thing that popped into their heads. a party where they would invade her parents liquor cabinet. now that was something sydney would never dream of doing in a million years. she wanted to stay on her father's good side for as long as she could. once she moved to art school she knew that the relationship with her father would be strained. she wasn't even sure how he would react other than anger. just thinking about it made sydney a little sad. her father was difficult to live with at times but it was his dream to have a child grow up and go to an ivy league school. at least he had carter who was off studying at school just like his father wanted. carter did everything their father wanted and he was in a great place. sydney seemed to be the complete opposite and fought her father every step of the way. at least she was fighting for something that she truly did know she loved. she had so long until then so hopefully something would happen that would show her father how much she really needed to go to art school. sydney knew it probably wouldn't happen but a girl could hope. all i know is that when he was done with us we'd both cease to exist sydney told him with a confident nod of her head. even though he wouldn't literally kill them they would both be in a whorl of trouble and she didn't want that to happen.

realizing that she had been lost in her thoughts she put her attention back on tuberose when he asked her if she had any bubble soap. sydney actually thought about it for a moment when she shook her head realizing she was getting distracted again. you can master the art after you finish all these worksheets she told him sternly. seeing tuberose kind of reminded sydney of herself when she was younger. she was the hyper child that couldn't be contained but her father worked with her every day until she was disciplined enough to do everything on her own. sydney had to admit she was jealous of tuberose and his freedom. he was living all on his own and could do whatever he wanted when he wanted. he also was amused by the simplest of things including piercing their tongues. sydney couldn't help but laugh as he stuck his tongue out and tried to talk. was doing homework really worse than piercing your own tongue? there was no way sydney would trust him with a needle anywhere near her tongue. stop being distracted! she said trying to contain the fit of giggles that were trying to escape her.

grabbing a pencil she put it on the paper in front of him and looked from him to the paper motioning him to get to work. looking through the snacks she brought sydney pulled out two juice boxes and put one in front of tuberose. even though juice boxes were childish she still enjoyed them. but she could never drink just once because there was never enough in them to quench her thirst. hopefully tuberose would enjoy the juice boxes as much as she did. pulling the straw off the juice box she opened the plastic and put it into the little hole on top of the box. pressing her lips against the straws she felt the liquid coming up into her mouth. sitting her eyes watched tuberose carefully wanting him to hurry and finish so they could do something fun. sydney wasn't all about working and she didn't plan on spending the entire day on these worksheets. hopefully they could find something to do with their time considering it was a rather nice day outside. she wasn't planning on having them spend any time in the house though, there were too many things that they might accidentally break.

When Sydney placed the papers in front of him, Tuberose thought he was about to keel over dead. She was really going to force him to work, wasn't she! The pencil mocked him from it's silence on the paper. If only this were a magical world, Tuberose mused over silently. Then, most likely, the pencil would jump up off of the paper, do a little dance, and then start filling in the answers itself. Wouldn't that just be beautiful? With thoughts of pencils running through his mind giddily, Tuberose almost shrieked with joy when he saw the juice box. "Oh my god! How did you know I just love little juice cubes?! That's so amazing. I love you, Syd!" Tuberose did love fruit juice. When he had been a child it had been the only liquid he would consume without a tube or an IV being involved. His parents had long ago resolved to only giving him sugar-free juice, but without him. . . Yanking his straw from the side, Tuberose inserted it into the little whole. Of course, like any normal child of two years of age or younger, Tuberose had trouble getting it to puncture the insert. Making a scene, he reared his hand back before jamming it into the box with as much force as he could muster. Finally, after a few minutes of what seemed like impending doom for the box, Tuberose got the straw finally through. Sighing in exaggerated relief, he looked up at Syd with a goofy expression on his face. "I did it," he said like some small child who blew a bubble for the first time. Smiling, Tuberose took a small sip of his apple juice.

Tuberose hummed to himself as he glanced back down at the paper. "If you don't want me to get distracted, darling, don't give me apple juice. Of all fruit juices, it's the most distracting. Except maybe tomato." Tuberose liked tomatoes, but he hated their juice with a passion. How that worked no one knew exactly. Tuberose picked up the pencil in his left hand and started to doodle a little rose in the corner. It was almost decent, except for the part where he gave it a ridiculous smile and vampire fangs before adding a tiara. Yeah, just imagine what his work would be like if he took an actual art class. Sometimes creativity is a bad thing in the wrong hands, such as Tuberose's. Now, the pencil busy against the white page, the rose/vampire/princess was being eaten by a giant shark-gorilla who was wearing a tutu. When his drawing began to cut into printed words, Tuberose realized he had completely ignored the worksheets original intent. Looking up at Syd with a confused face, he opened his mouth. "Who the hell is this Pablo Picasso dude?" It wasn't that he actually meant to disobey Sydney's wishes; only that he wasn't capable of paying attention to worksheets for that long. Had he had the ability to do so, Tuberose might have already finished the paper. But he didn't, so anyone who was around him during this painful process needed to be patient. Giving a little smile towards Syd, Tuberose hoped she knew who the man was. Apparently he was important, or something like that. Whatever.

"Why do you like art so much, Syd?" Tuberose asked, and for once he wasn't smiling, or grinning, or even confused. He was still looking down at his paper, all the questions blurring into one boring mess. His voice was genuine, though, and he truly was curious. He had never met someone who was as dedicated as Sydney. Sure, there were always those freaks at school who actually liked doing schoolwork and getting good grades, but then there were people like Syd. Who were a completely different breed. Tuberose had never cared about anything as much as Sydney had. Or rather he had. . . and then that something had been taken away from him.

It had been the summer before his second freshman year when the accident had happened. Tuberose's parents had gone off on some trip to Tokyo, Japan, to meet some stupid clients. They had left their eldest son, Tube, in charge of his younger brother. Bryony had only been seven when his life had been taken. In many cases it was just like any other death of a child. His parents had cried, and then gotten angry, and then eventually gotten over it. The only defining fact was what the loss had resulted in Tuberose. Bry had been one of the most important things in Tuberose's life at the time. The poor little boy with development issues that constantly needed his older brother's support and help called to Tuberose and kept him focused. With Bry around, he was able to be something other than himself; he was able to take care of his brother. They had been best friends. That summer, Tuberose had been charged with the care of his younger sibling. They had been playing up in his room the day of the accident; a game of Candy Land before Bry was supposed to be sent off to bed. And that was where Tuberose had thought he was when he got ready for bed after sending his brother off to do the same. Of course, things rarely turn out how Tuberose plans them. And this was no exception.

It turns out that Bry had gone outside. For what reason, no one ever truly found out. Tuberose guessed it was for the ball they had lost earlier that same day to the gutter across the street. That was one thing about Bryony; everything had to be in it's proper place for the little boy to have any peace of mind. The point is, whether it be the ball, or any other reason, that it had been a dark rainy summer night. The car that hit him had tried to skid to a halt, but had obviously failed. Bry had uttered one scream before dying. Tuberose found him as the police pulled up to the accident.

Tuberose has never truly been the same. It's like something is missing from his life; the something that used to hold him together. Of course, by now Tuberose had almost mastered the art of blocking harmful memories, so as he looked up at Syd, his paper ignored as well as the thoughts of his deceased brother. A curious look pressed against his face, Tuberose waited for Sydney's answer eagerly.

watching tuberose attempt to to open the box was rather amusing for sydney. she sat with a smile plastered on her face as he struggled to get it in. as soon as he got it in sydney started to clap for him loving the expression that he had on his face. congratulations! she told him as she continued to clap for him. her had a point she did give him something to distract himself with. fine no more juice for you she told him sticking her tongue out at him. who would want tomato juice? sydney wasn't a big fan of tomatos in general. she didn't mind when they were in ketchup and what not but the actual tomato just made her shudder. sipping on her juice she watched as he started to draw something on the side of his paper. sydney knew she should probably tell him to stop and concentrate but she was curious what was going to happen. it started with a rose and then it somehow turned into a type of person? she had no idea what it was so she continued to watch and then he followed it up with some type of shark. tuberose really did have an interesting imagination and created rather interesting things.

her mouth almost dropped when he asked her who pablo picasso was. sydney knew that tuberose didn't like art but how could he have not heard of picasso before? it took all her effort to not stare at him as though he was an alien from another planet. at least then it would make sense that he hadn't heard of him before. getting up sydney walked over to her bookshelf and scanned her eyes through the different art books. finally picking the right one she walked over to tuberose and took a seat next to him opening the book up on her lap. flipping through the familiar pages she stopped at the section which was focused to the amazing artist. she ran her fingers over the picture of him wishing that one day she could be in the same book as him. how fantastic would it be to even be compared to piccaso even if it was to show that her work wasn't even close to his. this is piccasso she told tuberose with a small smile as she flipped through his paintings looking over the art that he had worked on. piccasso was an artist that was pretty inspirational to many artists. he started painting when he was a kid and he continued on to be one of the most famous artists there was. sydney wrote a paper on him once which was rather easy considering she already had books filled with his work. there were so many inspirational artists out there that sydney spent her time trying to really get to know who they were. there was piccasso, da vinci, warhol, van gogh, the list of artists that sydney wished she could be were endless. though as much as she loved van gogh's work she still didn't quite understand the whole cutting off his own ear part. touching her ear for a moment sydney knew that no matter how hard some guy broke her heart she wouldn't be able to cut off her own ear. ---

just looking through the book gave sydney memories of when she first bought it. her aunt had bought it for her considering her dad didn't approve of the whole painter idea in the first place. he tried hard to change her mind about everything and show her that a real education had nothing to do with art. but her aunt always supported her and found a way to sneak the book to her. sydney would stay up all night reading under the covers with a flash light mesmerized at the work these artists could do. it seemed impossible that they could do such work with just their two hands and nothing else. it's freeing she told him with a dazed look on her face. she heard tuberose's question but she was still lost in her book so she didn't even realize that she had answered him. art just took her to a whole other place that she wanted to be constantly. she wasn't sure if he would understand what she meant when she said that but she hoped it made some type of sense. art was something where you could really let all your emotions loose. whenever something was happening to her sydney would just go her studio and would just let loose on a canvas. whenever she went back to that painting it reminded her of why she did it and she was glad to have it out.

pulling herself from her thoughts she didn't think that she was the best to help tuberose appreciate art. she seemed to keep getting lost in what they were doing and decided maybe it would be better if she had something she could concentrate on while he was doing his work. she felt rather inefficient sitting there just watching him attempt to work. looking underneath her bed she pulled out one of her sketch books. she had sketch books full of random drawings hidden all throughout her room. there were times in the middle of the night where all she wanted to do was draw so she always had a book nearby to keep her company. she started to sketch a face and turned it around to show tuberose. i'll draw this portrait of you if you finish your work she told him hoping that having something to look forward to would help him finish his work faster. she wasn't sure if he would want a sketch of himself done but sydney had to try and get him to do his work somehow.

Tuberose pondered her proposition silently, one finger pressed against his chin in concentration. "Hmmm," he mumbled outloud looking at Sydney with the most serious face he could manage, which wasn't very serious. Tuberose sucked at sarcasm, like hardcore, and even found trouble lying he was so terrible at keeping a straight face. It wasn't his fault that he was naturally honest and happy, was it? "You are the only one I trust to transfer my sexiness onto paper, so yes, I'll accept your conditions." Smiling, Tuberose had actually meant what he had said. Not that part about his sexiness, believe it or not, but the part where he complimented her. Sydney was a very good artist, and Tuberose couldn't wait to see her work. Not that he cared that she was drawing his portrait in the first place. But she was trying her hardest to get him to do his work, and somewhere deep inside Tuberose he realized this and knew that he might as well give in eventually. "Oh, one last thing. If there's more juice afterwards I'll do my work. The apple kind, of course." There was just something about apple juice--- so magical.

A frown furrowing Tuberose's brow, he turned back to the paper. Of course, his drawing had completely covered the first question and he could barely make out the words. Scribbling some illegible answer in the blank, Tuberose moved on to the next question. Typically this is how it went with Tuberose. If he didn't know the answer he wasn't going to look it up. If he did know the answer, it was either a miracle or a sign of the apocalypse. Or maybe just a sign that the education in America was seriously going down hill. That was okay with Tuberose, though, because he didn't care. As long as he had fun while doing it (which rarely happens with homework) he would be satisfied. And working alongside Syd was most definitely fun. "I think I know what you mean when you say art is freeing. Not that I've ever really made pictures pretty picture like you," Tuberose said as he wrote down an answer that was most likely wrong without thinking about it. His handwriting was atrocious at this point, but he didn't seem to mind. "It's sorta like running down the middle of a street butt naked; you do it because it feels good and is fun and you don't give a shit what other people think. Of course, I've never done that, or anything," he added with a devious grin in Syd's direction. Answering another question, Tuberose wondered what would happen if someone did do that. Of course they'd be in trouble, it was public indecency and that was against the law. It sure would be interesting to see, Tuberose thought as he answered another question towards the end of the page. Unless the person was ugly, then he wouldn't want to watch that.

Who was the creator of the Mona Lisa? Tuberose read silently to himself. Ah, hell with it. According to Tuberose's scribbled writing in the blank Bob Marley had painted it. Oh, he hoped his art teacher would at least appreciate his creativity. Weren't they supposed to love the stuff, anyway? "What if I told you I wanted to become a professional monkey trainer?" Tuberose suddenly asked out of no where. That was usually how his conversations went, though; complete unrated randomness. But how cool would that be to train monkeys for a living? Except, he'd watched one documentary that they were pretty dangerous animals and ripped faces and stuff off of people. He was suddenly glad that a monkey trainer wasn't on the top of his future careers list. If he had one, that is.

Tuberose squealed with joy when he answered the last question, something about the birth date of one artist. Instead of answering the question, Tuberose had written the Happy Birthday song in the blank and drawn a cake with candles next to it. In his mind that consisted of a correct answer somehow. Turning to Sydney, Tuberose showed her the filled in paper. "I finished! I finished!" He grinned. For all the work he didn't do, he sure was excited to accomplish finishing the paper. Oh well, that was Tuberose. Excited over the littlest of things on the biggest of scales. "Now I believe you are holding my juice hostage. I've worked up quite a thirst from this damn worksheet and I'd appreciate if you would hand it over," Tuberose said, eying the other little boxes that had bright images of apples on them. That wasn't necessarily a lie. Considering how much Tuberose talked it was normal for him to get thirsty often. He had been furious at school when he had first arrived, for they had denied him the freedoms of carrying around a water bottle to his classes. They wanted him to drink out of the infestation filled water fountains! Ugh, some people just made Tuberose mad. And then, as expected, he forgot entirely about his anger towards the office ladies. The blessings of a two second attention span, it would seem.

Bending his body, Tuberose tried to reach around Sydney for the juice box like some overly eager child. However, he was overbalanced and ended up just falling over onto Sydney. Regaining himself, Tuberose grinned at her, all thoughts of fruit juice forgotten. Pushing himself away from her, Tuberose caught a glance of the paper she had been 'doodling' on. "Ohhh! I want to see it! Please Syd? Can I see it? I'll love you forever and ever and ever!" Tuberose sat on his knees, silently bouncing up and down in anticipation with his eyes big and excited.

she watched as he thought about her idea and she hoped that he would be up for it. everything tuberose seemed to do was entertaining and she loved being around the guy. there was never a boring moment if tuberose was around. she was happy when he said he trusted her with the drawing. even though tuberose was rather attractive there was no way sydney was going to admit that to him. she would take no part in the ego boosting for him even though she knew he was just playing around. deal she told him sticking her hand out for him to shake. a drawing and a juice box seemed like a good trade for him to finish all his work. she'd have something to do while he was finishing everything up.

now the both of them had something to do and she started to sketch him as he worked. tuberose looked rather concentrated as he worked which was an expression sydney rarely saw. she sketched quickly wanting to capture it not knowing when the next time this would ever happen. he continued to work and she kept looking from him to the canvas. sydney began humming along to the music that was playing as she worked on his face. the pencil scratched against the paper as she tried to capture his "sexiness onto the paper". of course you wouldn't do something like that she told him with a roll of her eyes. sydney could imagine herself just walking home from school and seeing tuberose run down the street naked. to be honest she probably wouldn't be very surprised if that happened. she was sure that everyone who knew him wouldn't be surprised seeing that either. but even so she did agree with the general point he was making. she painted because she loved how it felt and she painted what she wanted to see and didn't care much about others. in his own way tuberose definitely really did understand what she was trying to say.

well if that's what you want to do i hope you let me come visit she told him casually. she was use to him asking her random questions so they didn't even phase her anymore. sydney just answered them as honestly as she could. but if he really did become a monkey trainer it would be nice to be around him as he worked with the monkeys up close. maybe she would even get to sketch one while he was working. though she wasn't very sure how she felt around monkeys even though they looked adorable they were kind of scary at the same time. she was pretty sure she heard a story about a monkey eating his owners nose when she was asleep. sydney was quite fond of her nose and she was sure that tuberose was fond of his and wouldn't want to lose it. hopefully if he did end up working with monkeys he would stay safe and keep all his body parts. maybe they could take a trip to the zoo and visit the monkeys and he could really decide if he wanted to train them or not. maybe he could train a monkey that was in some hit movie then he would be able to meet some interesting celeberties. sydney would definitely force him to take her on the set with him and she could pretend to be his assistant or something.

she looked up worried for a moment when she heard him squeal. but it was one of delight because he had finally finished his work. sydney wasn't sure if she wanted to read over what he wrote or just trust that he had done everything correct. at least he had finished everything and he would get credit when he turned in it. maybe there was hope for him yet. sydney was glad to see that he was so happy to have finished his work. if only he finished it more often then he could be excited about even more things. she rolled her eyes once again when he brought up the juice boxes that she had. he hadn't worked on the worksheet long enough to really be that thirsty. but his eyes were glued onto the juice so there would be no way he was leaving without getting yet another one. tuberose tried to get a juice box from behind her but instead of grabbing it he ended up falling on top of her instead. she poked him in the tummy a few times as he got off of her. if he had just waited a moment she would have given him one instead of him having to accidentally attack her. he happened to see part of the drawing and sydney clutched it to her chest not yet ready to show him. it's not done yet! she told him even though he was too excited to really care what she was saying. grabbing another juice box sydney inched it closer to him. distract yourself once more she told him and watched him carefully to make sure he wasn't peeking. sydney just didn't want him to see until she was ready for him to.

Leaning his way over her shoulder, Tuberose made a deperate attempt to sneak a peak at the drawing. The more she told him not to look the more he wanted to. Sydney should have known that; Tuberose was like your basic child who wanted all the more what they couldn't have. "That's okay! I don't really need both sides of my face, or whatnot. I just really want to see it!" he screeched in excitement. He knew that Syd was an amazing artist and he wanted to see what she had made him look like. . . Yes, sometimes Tuberose could be a little on the vain side, although he tried not to be. That's what he got for being raised by two fashion designers and brought up in a world surrounded by beautiful models. Smiling at Sydney Tuberose bounced in anticipation.

When she mentioned distractions Tuberose's face lit up. She wanted him to be more distracted? Hadn't she been with him all morning long? OF COURSE HE COULD DISTRACT HIMSELF! Jumping up from where he had been sitting Tuberose pushed his hair back from his forehead and looked down at Sydney. "It turns out that I'm a blackbelt in the art of distractions. In fact, I'm a freakin' boss ninja when it comes to this area of my expertise. So please, point me in the direction of your tin foil and glue sticks and I'll have this shit covered in no time." He didn't quite know what he planned to do with these such items, but he knew he could do something pretty awesome! Maybe make some super cool alien hunting hats? Who knew the full potential of average house hold items with this kid around. Smiling, Tuberose hopped from foot to foot before spinning around and taking a big look around Sydney's room. Tuberose knew that he could get lost in all the amazingness of her room in no time. But then again, would Syd want him touching all her stuff? She had told him to get distracted. . . Running over to one of the walls that was covered in artwork, Tuberose used his fingers to make his eyes even wider. It almost seemed impossible that anyone could fully take in the awesomeness of the wall. It was so colorful! And despite failing his art appreciation class, it was a well known fact that Tuberose loved colors. And penguins, but that wasn't as nearly important at the moment. "I like your wall," Tuberose said in a dazed like voice as he let his hand fall back to his side. He wanted to desperately touch it, his fingers itching against his palm. That urge that accompanied Tuberose like a stalker everywhere he went to reach out and meddle with things called to him.

Giving a mischivous glance in Sydney's direction, Tuberose wandered if he would get in trouble. He definitely didn't want to make her mad at him, that was for sure. Despite all his stupid moves and actions, Tuberose truly didn't like having people dislike him. That is, of course, when and if he ever does realize that they don't like him. But Syd was too nice, wasn't she?. . . Reaching out tentavily with one finger Tuberose was about to poke the pretty drawing when he suddenly remembered---"JUICE!" he shouted as he shot around, the wall almost completely forgotten. "I can't believe I forgot all about it!" Tuberose smacked himself in the forehead, kneeling down beside Syd once more. Taking the poor little neglected juice box in his hand, Tuberose attempted to stick the straw through the whole again. This time he actually succeeded on his first try, and smiling a triumphant smile he gulped down a drink of victory. Now the scores were settled in the epic battle of Juice Box versus Tuberose Dom Helheim. Turning back to Sydney with his juice box still tight in his grip, Tuberose poked her arm softly. "Are you done yet?" he asked patiently with an angelic smile on his face. Fluttering his eyelashes, Tuberose poked her again. He watched her for a moment in silence, his face blank as he traced her movements with his own eyes. It was almost amazing what she did; although he couldn't see the lines she was making, it was still awe inspiring that she was able to create something from a blank page. Something from absolutely nothing.

His moment of strange peace was over before he even noticed it, however, and Tuberose took another sip of his juice. "Do you have any sporks? We could create an epic spork-people ballet and have them be eaten by a magical coconut monster---that is if you have any coconuts." Tuberose doubted she did considering that they were out of season. Tuberose loved making spork puppets, it had to be one of his most favorite activities. Besides of course drinking juice, coloring books, playing killer pirates, juggling, eating banana pudding, making Jello, and just about a hundred other things. But it was definitely up there on the list.

she squinted her eyes at him when he said he didn't need both sides of his face. she didn't want to just give him a sketch of half of him when she promised one of his whole self. tuberose wasn't the most patient person but she was glad to see that he was so excited to see what she was coming up with. as soon as sydney saw the expression on his face after she had told him to distract himself she instantly regretted it. even though she didn't want him to see the sketch just yet telling him he could do whatever was a big deal. sydney bit her lip wishing she had phrased that much differently. he jumped up and looked down on her and her eyes followed him carefully wondering what he was going to do.

looking up from her sketch she watched him make his way around her room his hands touching everything that was around him. her walls were rather full of things and she wasn't done with them just yet. looking over to that one blank wall once more sydney still needed to figure out what she was going to do with it. there were just so many possibilities that she didn't want to waste one that wasn't very good. getting distracted she shook her head for a moment and smiled at tuberose's comment on her walls. thank you she told him as she continued to sketch. she was glad that he enjoyed her walls and she realized that he was the only guy she had ever had in her room. if she for some reason had a boy coming over to the house they were always in the living room where her parents could keep a close eye on them. when it came to boys both of her parents were a little crazy. sydney had never even had her first kiss and she was already seventeen years old! it was kind of sad but boys were a distraction that she just didn't need right now. that had to be one of the things her father and her agreed on. sydney wanted to be completely focused until she found a way to get into school and pay for it. then when she had her future set she would then worry about finding the right guy for her. sydney didn't seem to have the same mind frame as most of the girls at her school who were all focused on getting a boyfriend. she had her entire life for a relationship why would she need one so badly now?

she began to concentrate on the sketch wanting to finish it before tuberose found something in her room that he wasn't suppose to find. sydney was pretty sure she hid all the things she wanted to keep private but who knew how good he was at finding things. sydney didn't want to wait and find out so her hand raced across the paper. she was glad to see that he attention turned back onto the jucie box that she had put in front of him. sydney smiled as he knelt down besides her and started to drink his little juice box. she felt him poke her arm as she finished the edges of the sketch. he started to flutter his eye lashes and she ignored him for a moment wanting to get the last touches finished. pretty much sydney told him with a small smile as she flipped over the sketch book so that he would be able to see it. looking from the sketch to tuberose she watched him for his reaction hoping it would be a good one. she had tried hard to capture him concentrating for once on paper and she was hoping that she succeeded. maybe if she could figure out a way for him to sit still she could do more sketches of him in the future. she would definitely need one of him smiling because he had that type of smile that really lite the place up.

sorry no sporks sydney told him with a pretend sad look on her face. as convenient as sporks were she highly doubted her mother would ever actually use them in the house. she knew that she had some snacks but considering how hyper the juice was making him she wasn't sure if she wanted to give him anything else. tuberose was hyper enough on his own and she wasn't going to help by giving him even more sugar. though she wasn't sure what else there would be for him to do in her house. i'm not sure what else we can do

Tuberose was about to burst with excitement when Sydney said she was done. He knew it was going to be amazing because Sydney had made it, and everything she did was awesome! Or, at least that was the case in Tuberose's mind. Anything any of his friends who put up with him did was the coolest in his book. Tuberose loved all his friends; how could he not? The only problem with him was how he easily got bored with things, and that included people. Some people would have labeled him a 'friend whore' but Tuberose didn't believe in that. After all, he was completely dedicated to those who deserved his dedication. And to Tuberose, Syd was such a person. As he leaned over, his eyes big as he looked at the drawing, Tuberose grinned. "That's amazing! I mean you're drawing---not my face, you know? Anyway, when you're some type of beastly mega rich artist who goes to like fifty thousand art shows a week and is all snooty with their fancy little hats and says big words all the time while contemplating the meaning of life through a dumb ass painting that no one really likes because it's just a bunch of squiggle lines that are supposed to resemble a naked lady or something---" Taking a big gulp of air before he continued, Tuberose quickly created the strange scenario in his head. Despite how odd he made it sound, he truly did believe that Sydney could make it big. She was pretty good. "When you're doing all that and you have a bunch of new friends 'cause you're just that cool I hope you remember all us little people. And me! 'Cause I looove you!" Tuberose reached out and gave Sydney a quick hug from where he was sitting before letting her go, a smile on his face.

"Like I don't mean to make you feel uncomfortable or anything, but you are really good. But I'm not really an expert or anything. . ." Tuberose hoped that she believed him. It was true that he didn't know what the hell he was talking about, but it was also true that he thought she was amazing. The most mundane things could manage to send Tuberose into an awe inspired coma, but this was serious in his mind. He could actually tell that the person in the drawing was him! That was really cool to Tuberose. Of course, all thoughts of her awesomeness left his mind when she mentioned the absence of sporks. "WHAT?!" he said a little too loudly, his surprised shock plain to read on his face. How could someone not have sporks. . . He knew he always had at least one pack conveniently stored away at his apartment. What if a zombie apocalypse were to break out? What would you fight the zombies off with? Shaking his head, Tuberose knew that he would have to help Sydney stock up on her zombie fighting gear soon. But this was not the time, he realized, because he was just too happy---in order to efficiently plan for an apocalypse it is essential to be level headed (notice that Tuberose is not in fact prepared, considering that he is never level headed). "Sometimes I just don't understand you, Syd."

With thoughts of zombies and sporks and the end of the world running through his mind, Tuberose pondered Sydney's last statement. What could they do now? Well, Tuberose thought to himself, there's always something to do. And if there's not. . . that's when you create something to do. Whenever Tuberose is forced to stay at his home (for whatever reason his friends can fabricate to get a break away from him) he always managed to find something to do. Most of the time this consisted of rearranging his room, which was one of his favorite things to do. He guessed that he just got bored with the same scenery and arrangements all the time, and his active mind needed new stimulation every once in a while. But Tuberose doubted that Sydney would appreciate moving all the things in her room, and anyway that was last resort. Tuberose was sure that they could fins something a little more entertaining to do together. His mind started formulating a list of things they could do---"Let's see. . . We could make carpet angels, which are a lot like snow angels only that it's on carpet and doesn't really make the angel shape," Tuberose suggested. That was always fun. Although it didn't have much of a result in the end, it was still entertaining. "Or we could make a tent out of sheets and pillows!" Tuberose suggested with a giant smile on his face. He always loved doing that; as a child he had always forced his parents to make them with him while they were around, and then later he and his brother had made them all the time. It would be so fun! Grinning at Sydney, Tuberose started moving back and forth in an almost dance-like movement of excitement. He really hoped that Sydney would make a fort with him. It didn't even cross his mind that maybe she wouldn't want her room turning into a child-fun infested room, or that it would mess up all her folded linens. Tuberose rarely thought anything through, and this was one of those situations.

his reaction was one that she was really happy to receive. sydney was worried that he may not have liked it. i'll always remember the little people she told him with a wink. sydney wasn't expecting it when tuberose hugged her. she was just glad that he really liked her drawing and maybe she'd get to do more for him in the future. sydney loved sketching her friends and seeing their reactions when she was finished. though most people couldn't sit still long enough for her to really finish what she was doing. she always had to do the sketches in small sections so they would be able to take breaks in the middle. when he had realized she had no sporks his reaction surprised her for a moment. he was obviously not very pleased with her and his face made it very obvious. i'm hard to understand she told him with a small smile. sydney was different than most people her age but she knew that just made her original. most people weren't as driven to do things as she was but sydney was glad that she knew what she wanted to do with her life.

she listened to his suggestions with an amused smile on her face. as interesting as carpet angels sounded sydney didn't quite know if that would be her idea of something fun. she wasn't sure they would be able to make actual angels with a carpet. they would just made weird shapes that didn't really look like anything. but then he suggested making a tent out of sheets and pillows. actually, that sounds really fun sydney told him with a small smile on her face. it reminded sydney of the things she did as a child with her older brother before he went off to boarding school. sydney use to be extremely close to her older brother but their father had him so focused on school he was always busy studying or doing something to help him do better in school. that meant he was at the best boarding schools, best tutors, and was the star of all the teams he found himself on. which also meant he had no time to play silly games with sydney.

getting up quickly sydney left the room and went to find all the extra sheets and pillows. humming to herself she opened the closet where her mother kept everything neat and organized. she would not be pleased if she knew what they were up to. her mother was a very organized person and there was no way she would want her sheets used for a game. especially when the people who were playing with them were already seventeen. looking through the sheets she picked the brightest of the sheets and grabbed some extra pillows. trying to carry it all was kind of difficult considering the pillows were so large. finally making her way back to the room she pushed the door open with her foot and set everything down on the ground. are you ready? she asked him with an excited look on her face. sydney didn't think that the idea of this would excite her as much as it did at the moment but it was such a nostalgic feeling. opening up the sheets she started to place them around the room. nudging tuberose with her foot she looked to him for some help because there was no way she was going to be able to do this alone. this was his idea and she knew that he was probably just as excited as she was to get this done.

once everything was finished sydney stood back to stand in the glory of their tent. it may not be very big or very professional but it was good work for the both of them. grabbing an extra pillow sydney made her way inside and took a seat. there wasn't much room inside but she still enjoyed it non the less. it was interesting the things the both of them did to entertain themselves. i really like this idea sydney told him as she hugged one of the pillows she had brought inside with her.
